Grants from the state: the intricacies of receiving business assistance. Grants for small businesses: where to find and how to get Grand help for small businesses

To implement any business idea, you need a certain amount of start-up capital. If you don't have the money to open your own business, don't give up on your dream. The easiest way out of this situation is to seek help from the state. You will learn how to get grants for starting a small business for aspiring entrepreneurs in 2019 from this article.

Who receives grants?

Almost every entrepreneur dreams of receiving a grant to start a business. However, only unemployed citizens who are registered with the employment center, or entrepreneurs who want to expand their existing business, can apply for a cash subsidy.

When issuing grants for starting a business in 2019, foreign sponsors insist that the allocated funds be spent in full accordance with the business plan. The state pays more attention to social protection of the population and employment of citizens. In this regard, foreign investors usually finance enterprises that have already participated in similar programs, and government funds more often issue business start-up grants to aspiring entrepreneurs. At the same time, they give preference to socially vulnerable segments of the population:

  • University graduates;
  • Citizens who have been laid off;
  • Single moms;
  • Disabled people, etc.

According to the law, a grant for opening a small business in 2019 can be received by citizens over 18 years of age who want to engage in entrepreneurial activity in our country.

Application deadlines

Now let’s try to figure out where to get a grant to start a business. First of all, visit the district small business development center. There they will tell you where to go and what documents you need to collect. In addition, information about holding competitions for government grants to start a business can be found in regional print media or on the Internet. Application deadlines and requirements for competition participants can also be obtained from the Ministry of Economic Development and local administration.

If you try hard, you can find a fund that will finance the most extravagant project. And yet, to be guaranteed to receive a grant, you need to look for more. Experts recommend that beginners focus on the service sector.

You can open:

  • Training courses;
  • Auto repair shop;
  • Cleaning company;
  • Design studio;
  • Marketing agency.

If you don't know, you can rent out commercial and residential properties. But in this case, one cannot count on state support.

Requirements for applicants

Each foundation that issues grants has certain requirements for competition participants. As a rule, these requests are similar, so there are a number of general requirements that applicants for receiving financial assistance must fulfill:
  • Filing an application;
  • Project development;
  • Project protection;
  • Project implementation;
  • A full report on the funds spent.

There are also many small nuances that should not be overlooked. It often happens that a person presents a brilliant project, but cannot figure out the intended use of funds, and is rejected. At first glance, it may seem that spending money is easy, but if it is someone else's money received for the implementation of a specific project, everything is much more complicated.

Therefore, before submitting an application, carefully study all the reporting rules - deadlines, report form and procedure for providing information. In this case, you can easily account for every penny spent.

The easiest way is to get a grant for renting or purchasing premises, as well as purchasing equipment, raw materials and materials. In addition, it should be taken into account that almost all government programs for financing small businesses are aimed at combating unemployment, so the commission gives preference to entrepreneurs who create new jobs.

How are applications decided?

The most important question that many aspiring entrepreneurs are looking for an answer to is how to win a grant to start a business?

The commission that makes decisions on applications carefully checks all documents, and in particular the business plan. It must contain all the necessary financial and economic indicators and their detailed justification. Describe in detail. In this case, the commission members will get a clear idea of the prospects for the development of your business and the effectiveness of the project.

An entrepreneur who does not provide such calculations will most likely be refused. In addition, the business plan must clearly indicate where the money received will be spent. You need to calculate everything in such a way that the commission members are convinced that these funds are not your main funds. The state does not support newcomers who want to open their own business solely through gratuitous subsidies. It is advisable that the amount of your personal starting capital is approximately twice the size of the subsidy.

Another important point is the creation of jobs. The more people you can employ in your enterprise, the better, since every project that is subject to government funding must be aimed at combating unemployment. But at the same time, the number of jobs should not have a negative impact on the profitability of the project.

Good day, friends. We live in a very interesting time, when more and more promising startups appear every day, young boys and girls turn from ordinary students into successful entrepreneurs in a matter of months. Looking at all this, you wonder how they manage to develop their ideas without investing a penny into the business. To be honest, a lot of promising ideas actually start with minimal investments, but then, as a rule, they require financial support to reach a decent level. Where can I get it? One option is international grants and awards. A lot of companies are interested in finding bright minds, are interested in having a part in their developing startup, and are ready to organize all kinds of competitions and give out grants to the best startups.

So, today we will talk about the 5 most famous grants for business, we will tell you how you can get them, what you need to do in order to get interested in you and be ready to invest tens of thousands of dollars in a young project.

The most famous grants for business

1. Fund for Assistance to the Development of Small Enterprises in the Scientific and Technical Sphere
As part of this project, up to 1 million rubles are paid under the “Start” program and 200,000 rubles annually for two years under the “U.M.N.I.K.” program.
If in order to receive a grant from Microsoft, Russian startupers need to work very hard, then this grant is easier to obtain, because it is provided by a domestic fund aimed at working specifically with our young companies.

Who is this grant for?

As a rule, most grants are aimed at supporting small businesses that specialize in promising areas of the future. This fund for promoting the development of small enterprises in the scientific and technical field provides its money to companies that develop the following areas: IT, medicine of the future, modern materials and technologies for their creation, new devices and hardware systems, and biotechnology.

How to get a?

The Foundation carries out a number of events on the basis of the best universities and enterprises in the country, within the framework of which a number of competitors with the most interesting and promising projects are highlighted. The authors of these projects are invited to apply for a grant. This application is separately considered by an expert commission, which then makes a decision on the allocation of funds. It is worth noting that the funds are not given immediately, but are evenly distributed into 4 parts.

Article on the topic:

2. Grants from the Skolkovo Foundation
Mini-grants up to 5 million rubles, grants up to 150 million rubles

For whom?
Skolkovo residents are innovative companies that commercialize scientific developments in one of five priority areas: IT, energy efficiency, space, biomedical and nuclear technologies.

How to get a?
Prepare a package of documents: memorandum, presentation, project roadmap, financial plan, project estimate and its justification. First, the application must be approved in the cluster, then it goes to the grant service, where it undergoes due diligence, checking the veracity of the information sent. The application is then assessed by experts, awarding it a score from 1 to 10 points. If the average score is above 5 points, the application goes to the grant committee. If it is lower, it is eliminated. The final chord is a committee, which includes 12-14 people: both external, independent experts and employees of the fund, often its president Viktor Vekselberg. Decisions are made by a simple majority of votes. As a rule, if a project reaches the committee, the likelihood of not receiving a grant is extremely small.

3. Moscow government for small businesses.

To be honest, this grant is most dubious. To be honest, everything related to the allocation of money by government agencies does not seem very transparent to me. God grant that everything is not so, and that it is actually possible to receive a grant. Therefore, I decided to write about him after all.
The grant amount is 500,000 rubles, and it is allocated to young enterprises that are no more than 2 calendar years old. There are certain restrictions. Companies engaged in wholesale and retail trade, gambling, and sales of goods requiring mandatory licensing (alcohol, tobacco, etc.) will not be able to receive the grant.

How to get a grant?
To apply for a subsidy to the Department of Science, Industrial Policy and Entrepreneurship, a company must submit an application, the basis of which is a description of the project, its parameters, technologies, methods, timing and implementation features. Applications are accepted at entrepreneurship development centers. After approval of the project, the department is obliged to conclude a contract with the winning company within 15 days.

4. Grants for young startupers from the social network “Vkontakte”
Nowadays it’s hard to find a young person who doesn’t know anything about the VKontakte social network. But we all know it as a place to communicate with friends, classmates, colleagues and simply strangers. But few people realize that VKontakte has organized a fund that supports young startups.
Also, separate grants are issued by the founder of the social network “Vkontakte” Pavel Durov and the well-known entrepreneur in Russia Yuri Milner. Their main goal is to support young IT startups.
You can find out more about these grants on the official page https://vk.com/startfellows

It is worth noting that in 2013, Durov and Milner selected the 12 best projects, each of which received $25,000 for development. I am sure that this amount can become an excellent “accelerator” that can significantly improve the promotion of selected projects.

5 Grand from Microsoft
At the moment, Microsoft is the most successful and most famous company in the world, and its founder Bill Gates is the richest man on earth. It would be surprising if this software giant did not support the development and formation of young startups.
This grant is issued in the amount of 30 to 100 thousand dollars.

Who can get this money?
As a rule, this grant can be received by young IT companies that develop various software, Internet services, information storage systems and user data. In 2012, the company's management decided to introduce microgrants in the amount of $10,000, which are allocated for projects that can realize their ideas in a short period of time (for example, mobile applications, browsers for mobile devices, additions and optimization of existing Microsoft products).
A characteristic feature of this fund is that money is allocated exclusively for the creation or refinement of an existing product, but not for advertising, marketing or promoting its work to the masses.

Requirements: qualified team, technological and entrepreneurial maturity, participation in the Microsoft BizSpark program and use of the latest Microsoft technologies (Windows Azure, Windows Phone, Windows 8, Kinect). It would be very strange if the mandatory conditions did not include the use of the latest work from Microsoft. Therefore, if you decide to try your hand at receiving this grant, then be prepared for the fact that you will definitely need to work with Microsoft software.

How to get a?
To receive a grant, you will have to go through three stages, and at each stage you need to work to the maximum, presenting yourself only from the best side.

The first stage of the competition is getting into the “short list”. The selection is based on the information provided in the application. Here you need to describe your project, all its advantages, benefits to society, prospects for use, the possibility of mass integration. You definitely need to indicate the prospects for your software to work with mobile devices, because they are the future.

The second stage is a telephone/Skype interview with the short-listed project authors. Based on the results, a rating is compiled, and 4-7 projects are allowed to speak at the meeting of the selection committee. Naturally, the interview will be conducted in English, so you must be fluent in it.

The third stage is the actual presentation at the main office of the fund. By the way, if you want your presentation to be as effective as possible and to impress the commission, then you need to prepare for this in advance. We recommend reading our article “Apple Presentations: Secrets and Recommendations”. After a successful presentation, the project must be approved and then the grant is paid.

Almost every individual entrepreneur would like to receive a grant to develop their business.

Unfortunately, not every person has a sufficient amount of starting capital: only a few of us have the opportunity to turn to a wealthy relative for help or save money from our salary. Convincing an investor of the profitability of a business idea is also very difficult.

And in this situation, it is worth paying attention to all kinds of grants for business development, which are also provided in 2019.

What is a grant and the basic principles of their distribution

A grant is money issued by the state on a gratuitous (i.e., non-repayable) basis. The main requirement is that the business idea must be significant to society.

To the number main principles of distribution grants for small business development include:

These are the basic principles governing the provision of grants to citizens to conduct business in the field of small business. In each region of our country they can be supplemented. Exact information can be found from the authorities or on the official website of the city.

Who provides this assistance and for what purposes?

A grant to a citizen for running a business in the field of small business is provided special fund, existing in every subject of the Russian Federation. An applicant for its development is expected to plan to open a business that is promising for the country. At the same time, funds cannot be spent at your own discretion: it is necessary to decide in advance the purpose of their direction, which cannot be changed later.

It is also possible to receive a grant from individuals. In this case, the activities of an individual entrepreneur must have one of the following directions:

  • Agriculture;
  • textile industry;
  • working with all kinds of franchises, for example, real estate agencies;
  • the field of information technology.

It is these areas of activity that are currently most popular among private investors.

Requirements for applicants

One of basic requirements to an applicant for a grant for small business development, as mentioned above, is that his activities must relate to the field of small business. Comprehensive information on this issue is presented in Federal Law (FZ) No. 209. This regulatory legal act contains signs by which the activities of an individual entrepreneur (IP) can be classified as a small business.

So these include following criteria:

  • complete the registration procedure in accordance with all existing requirements;
  • organize a certain number of jobs;
  • reach a certain level of income (per year);
  • complete courses at the small business support fund in your region.

These are the basic requirements for applicants for a small business development grant. It is also required to prepare documents confirming the lack of government support previously.

Procedure and conditions for receiving

Now let’s look in detail at what needs to be done to receive a grant for business development in the field of small business in 2019. The first thing you need to do is find one in your region of residence small business support fund.

In it we will learn everything you need and begin to develop a business plan. It should be as detailed as possible, since this directly affects the decision of the members of the special competition commission.

We also prepare all the necessary documents and send the application to the employees of the above-mentioned government agency.

Independent experts render a verdict based on the following factors:

  • economic feasibility of a business idea;
  • the likelihood of the product being sold on the market;
  • technical novelty, etc.

No less important is the value of the business idea for society, as mentioned earlier.

It should also be noted that in the vast majority of regions of our country, in order to receive funds for the development of a business in the field of small business, the applicant must take appropriate courses (for example, in). In addition, before submitting an application, you should make sure that there are no various types of debts to the state (at the federal, regional and local levels), and if there are any, solve the problem.

List of required documentation

Gathering documents to apply for a small business development grant in 2019 is not difficult.

You will need to prepare the following documentation:

The authorities of a constituent entity of the Russian Federation may, at their discretion, expand the presented list.

In what cases is refusal possible?

Not all applicants receive funds from the state for the development of their small business, even if they fully comply with the conditions described above. And here a completely logical question arises: “What’s the matter?” Let's try to figure it out.

One of the main reasons why members of the special competition commission refuse to issue funds to individual entrepreneurs is the citizen’s lack of experience in this activity. Not to mention the situation when he has negative experience in organizational activities.

A refusal to receive funds for the development of a business in the field of small business can also be justified by the failure of an individual entrepreneur to use past government support or banking products. From all this we can conclude that even a minor stain on one’s reputation can put an end to the possibility of receiving government support in the form of a free subsidy. Therefore, before deciding to seek help from investors, including the state, and/or a credit institution, you should weigh all the pros and cons of this venture and carefully analyze your strengths.

To increase the likelihood of receiving a grant for the development of a small business, you should remember one important point. Funds from the state are often provided in installments. Therefore, for the first time, it is best to ask for a small amount: having demonstrated success in using it, you can count on a more serious investment in the future.

The rules for providing state assistance for business development in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug are discussed in the following video:

Agriculture is a rather difficult industry for beginners: here, investing funds and receiving the first profit are separated by months, and sometimes even years of hard work. Many farms fell into decline and went bankrupt because the businessmen who created them were faced with the difference between the theoretical simplicity of managing a small agricultural enterprise and the real need for daily hard work without weekends and holidays.

Accordingly, any newcomer in the process of studying the question of how to get a grant for a beginning farmer 2020 must understand that this feature of the agricultural business is well known to the competition commission, and therefore the applicant for funding must convince its members that he not only wants, but and can produce agricultural products. Proof of this ability is appropriate education, long-term work experience or running a private farm, a high-quality business plan and knowledge of the domestic market.

Farm business plan

The desire of the state to control the spending of funds allocated to private entrepreneurs as assistance seems completely logical. Therefore, each applicant for a grant or subsidy must submit a business plan to the commission distributing budget funds - a detailed guide to the implementation of the project. The format of this document for participation in the competition for funding differs slightly from standard samples published on the Internet: here the emphasis is on commitments to achieve certain performance indicators, subsidy goals and expected social benefits. Thus, a business plan recommended for farmers should contain the following sections:

Project summary. This chapter briefly mentions information such as:

  • Name and goals of the project;
  • Characteristics of the farm;
  • Stage of business existence (creation of a new project or development of an already operating enterprise);
  • The required volume and expected sources of financing, the amount of previously attracted investments.

Description of the applicant. This section contains a description of the present and expected tasks of the enterprise:

  • Peasant farm profile, current activities;
  • Goals to be achieved by the project;
  • Property and equipment that is already available.

Description of products. Here you need to mention the main characteristics of the product:

  • Functional purpose and problems that it solves;
  • Market value;
  • Directions for further development of the product and production itself.

Social significance. In this section, it is necessary to mention the reasons why material assistance to the farmer will help improve the social situation in society:

  • The number of new jobs required for the implementation of the project;
  • Expected increase in employee salaries.

Production plan. This chapter should describe in detail the technological process of product production, namely:

  • Existing or new technology that will be used during the project implementation;
  • Activities aimed at production control;
  • Requirements for raw materials, feed, materials, as well as conditions for their supply;
  • List of sanitary and anti-epizootic measures.

Organizational plan. Within the framework of this section it is necessary to consider:

  • Schedule plan for project implementation with reference to intermediate indicators - for example, production volume or livestock growth;
  • Plan for spending funds, including assistance to a beginning farmer from the state in 2020.

Marketing plan. Here you need to analyze the sales market and justify the possibility of achieving success by considering issues such as:

  • Investment attractiveness of the industry;
  • General and regional market capacity;
  • Availability of enterprises engaged in the production of analogues;
  • Sales strategy - direct sales through a dealer network, working with wholesale resellers, organizing branches.

Financial plan. In this section, you need to develop a financial model of the project at all stages of its implementation, including:

  • Profitability and profitability forecast;
  • Requirement for funds, financing schemes;
  • Variable and fixed costs;
  • Calculation of production costs;
  • Tax schemes and amounts.

Project results. This chapter examines interim indicators broken down by year and the final result of the project:

  • Increase in production, increase in livestock, achievement of the planned level of profitability;
  • Number of existing and new jobs, salary.

A business plan for a beginning farmer to receive a grant is drawn up for the entire period of validity of the agreement between the applicant and the institution allocating the funds. For programs to subsidize the development of peasant farms and family livestock farms, the planning horizon is five years.

Grants for economic development and household improvement

Today there are several programs to assist entrepreneurs working in the field of agricultural production. The most popular among them is a grant that provides reimbursement of up to 90% of the costs associated with the creation or development of a small agricultural enterprise. What assistance does the state provide to beginning farmers in this case:

  • 1,500,000 rubles - for the development of farming (it is expected that in 2020 this amount will be increased to 3,000,000 rubles in all regions);
  • 250,000 rubles - as one-time assistance to a beginning farmer.

The selection of applicants, the holding of competitions and the distribution of funds between their winners are carried out by special commissions working under the Ministry of Agriculture.

Purpose of assistance

According to the law on assistance to farmers, money for the creation or development of peasant farms can only be received within the framework of the implementation of projects directly related to the production and processing of agricultural products. The targeted use of funding involves:

  6. Purchasing animals for breeding;
  7. Purchase of agricultural units, tools, trucks, equipment for processing products;
  8. Purchasing seeds or seedlings for the purpose of arranging perennial plantings;
  9. Purchase of synthetic and natural fertilizers, herbicides.

One-time assistance for home improvement for beginning farmers is intended to solve slightly different problems. This type of public financing involves:

  1. Purchasing, constructing or renovating a single-family residential home;
  2. Repayment of mortgage loans;
  3. Purchase of a utility vehicle;
  4. Purchase of furniture or household appliances, computers, engineering equipment;
  5. Connecting the house to utility networks.

Any property that was acquired with a grant or assistance to farmers for the arrangement cannot be sold, donated, leased or contributed as a share in the authorized capital of the enterprise over the next five years.

What should the winner do?

Within five working days after the publication of the official order on the selection of the best projects, the commission sends to the winners of the competition a printed agreement in two copies on the allocation of funds to finance the development of peasant farms or as one-time assistance.

This document contains:

  • Conditions and procedure for transferring assistance;
  • Conditions and procedure for spending a grant for a beginning farmer 2020;
  • Rules for reporting on the expenditure of funds;
  • Rules for the commission to conduct inspections of the activities of peasant farms;
  • Information about liability in case of violation of reporting rules or unlawful targeted spending of subsidies.

In turn, the winner must also sign the agreement within five working days and send it back to the agency involved in the distribution of assistance.

The contract period is five years. Changes to the spending plan, including using raised funds, must be agreed upon with the competition commission. Moreover, these changes should not lead to a change in the direction of the peasant farm’s activities or worsen previously agreed upon performance indicators.

Obviously, it is not enough for a farmer to understand how to receive a grant for agriculture: issues related to reporting on the disbursement of funds also require attention. Thus, to confirm the legal expenditure of the subsidy, the entrepreneur must send to the ministry quarterly:

  • Reports in the prescribed form;
  • Statements on the movement of funds in accounts;
  • Copies of documents on the purchase of property or performance of work, confirming the completion of the transaction or the end of its intermediate stages;
  • Copies of certificates of ownership of constructed or purchased real estate;
  • Copies of checks, payment orders, receipts;
  • Photos of the property purchased or received as a result of the work, at least three for each object, from different angles.

A farmer who does not provide these documents within the specified time frame must fully return the allocated money to the state budget within 45 days.

Grant for the development of a livestock farm

From the point of view of the state, this includes family livestock farms that solve the problems of improving the well-being of village residents and supplying the region with domestically produced products.

Entrepreneurs involved in the creation and development of such farms have the right to apply for assistance in the form of a one-time subsidy in the amount of 3 million rubles, covering no more than 60% of the costs associated with the implementation of the project.

Hello! In this article we will talk about business grants.

Today you will learn:

  1. What is a grant and how to get it;
  2. What are the features of issuing grants?
  3. What government programs to help businesses operate in the Russian Federation.

It is no secret that some large business projects were brought to life thanks to support provided from outside. Taking advantage of this opportunity requires serious effort. Today we’ll talk about how to act correctly in this direction.

What is a grant?

This is free assistance in cash or in kind, which is used for scientific research, education and other purposes.

Both organizations and individuals can receive this assistance. Ultimately, you need to account for the use of funds.

It is worth noting that the state is interested in sponsoring small and medium-sized businesses, since its presence is a counterbalance to large companies, which, if absent, become monopolists in the market, and therefore have a destructive effect on the state as a whole.

What role do subsidies play?

The use of a grant system supports projects that cannot initially be called profitable, but for society as a whole, a particular region, or a particular city, they play a truly important role. Not every activity is fully funded by the state; in such cases, support is provided in the form of grants.

Who can issue a business grant?

  • Private foundations;
  • State;
  • Foreign organizations.

The requirements for the grant recipient are different in each case. Therefore, it simply doesn’t make sense to apply everywhere; it’s better to immediately choose a source that suits your type of activity and work to fulfill its conditions.

Now let’s move from the general to the specific, namely to grants to small and medium-sized businesses.

Legislative regulation

Issues of government assistance to small and medium-sized businesses are regulated by the Federal Law “On the development of small and medium-sized businesses in the Russian Federation.” In each region of the country there is a body that helps implement measures to help entrepreneurs.

Grants for start-up entrepreneurs

The dream of receiving a grant to start a business haunts almost every aspiring entrepreneur. But not everyone can apply for this, but only those citizens who are unemployed and registered with employment centers, or those who want to expand and increase the volume of an existing business.

State funds often issue grants to people who are just starting their journey as an entrepreneur.

In this case, preference will be given to the following categories:

  • Citizens who fell under;
  • Preferential categories (single mothers, persons with disabilities, and so on);
  • Graduates of higher educational institutions;
  • Citizens who are authors and owners of any innovative technologies;
  • Citizens who use innovative equipment in their business;
  • Taking part in various kinds of fairs and exhibitions.

In accordance with the law, those citizens who have reached the age of 18 and want to run their business in our state can receive a grant.

This assistance option can also be used by those who already have a certain amount of funds.

The state will compensate part of the costs in the amount of 500,000 rubles. Let's look at how to get such a grant step by step.

How to get a grant or subsidy

Step 1. Study the funds.

This also includes familiarizing yourself with the areas that are supported and studying the requirements for candidates.

You need to look for a suitable fund in your region of residence or in your city. The foundation can be public or private.

Step 2. Create a business plan.

Business support programs in Russia

Now we will consider several programs to support small and medium-sized businesses in the Russian Federation.

Support from the Skolkovo Foundation

They are provided in mini format (up to 5 million rubles) and in amounts up to 150 million rubles.

Companies operating in the following industries can apply:

  • Related to space;
  • Nuclear Research;
  • Biomedicine;

To receive a grant, you need to prepare documentation.

It usually includes:

  • The project itself;
  • Presentation;
  • Financial plan with its full justification;
  • Estimate;
  • Memorandum.

The application undergoes initial approval, then it is sent to the grant service, which verifies the veracity of the information received. After this, experts evaluate it using a ten-point system. If the score is higher than 5 points, the application is submitted to the grant committee for consideration. If the score is lower, the project is eliminated.

Ultimately, the committee makes a decision on the project by a simple majority vote. The commission consists of 12 to 14 people.

If the project is submitted to the committee for consideration, the chance of receiving a grant is high.

Grants from social VKontakte network

Most young people now know what social media is. VKontakte network. It is used to communicate with friends, work colleagues, and to find new friends. But few people know that this network operates a fund that sponsors start-up businessmen.

Note that grants are issued by Pavel Durov and businessman Evgeny Milner. And there are lucky ones who have become the owners of such support. The amount of the grant is not small, $25,000, and it is quite capable of becoming a help for a novice businessman.

Support from the Moscow Government

The grant amount is half a million rubles. A company that has been operating for no more than 2 years can apply for the receipt; there are also a number of restrictions on receipt.

A company that trades or sells tobacco and alcohol products will not receive a grant. Also, those whose activity is the gambling business cannot count on help.

To receive this subsidy, you need to apply to the Department of Science, Industrial Policy and Entrepreneurship. The application must indicate all the parameters of the project and outline the ways of its implementation. If the project is approved, the Department enters into an agreement with the winner within 15 days.

Grants from the Fund for Assistance to the Development of Small Innovative Enterprises in the Scientific and Technical Sphere

All the work of the fund is aimed at interaction with start-up companies in the Russian Federation. A candidate can apply for 1 million rubles or 200 thousand rubles every year for 2 years.

The fund usually supports small businesses whose activities are related to promising areas of the future. This can include the development of new materials, biotechnology, the creation of new instruments and apparatus, and so on.

The Foundation holds various events in large higher educational institutions and enterprises of the Russian Federation. The events also include holding a grant competition, the participants of which can be the authors of interesting and promising projects.

The application is reviewed by an expert commission, which decides whether to allocate a grant or not. Funds are not paid at once; they are divided into several parts.

Support for IT companies from Microsoft

This company is the most successful, and its creator is the wealthiest person in the world. The company supports talented aspiring businessmen in the IT field. The grant amount is 30 - 100 thousand dollars.

A distinctive feature of such support is that funds can only be allocated for the development or refinement of a project that already exists. These funds cannot be used for advertising and promotion of the project.

The mandatory requirements for the candidate are as follows: he must have a highly qualified team and use Microsoft technologies.

To receive support, a candidate must go through several stages and prove himself to be the best at each one.

At the first stage, you need to pass the selection process, according to the information provided in the application. It is necessary to characterize the project, talk about its positive aspects, and justify its benefits for society as a whole.

At the second stage, the candidate is interviewed by phone or Skype. Based on the results, a rating is compiled, and several projects will be allowed to defend before the selection committee.

Here, take into account an important point: the conversation takes place only in English, which means you need to speak it at the highest level.

At the third stage, a presentation is held in the office of the foundation itself. It should be meaningful, effective, and capable of interest. If it is successful, the project is approved and the grant is paid.

What to do with the funds received

The funds received as a grant can be characterized as a kind of agreement between an entrepreneur and an investor.

Therefore, the entrepreneur has certain obligations under this agreement that he must fulfill:

  • All funds must be spent only in full accordance with the goals of the project;
  • Reporting on the use of funds must be submitted within the time period specified in the contract;
  • If any force majeure occurs, you must immediately contact the fund that issued the grant;
  • The grant recipient cannot refuse to verify that funds are being spent correctly.

If the grant is not used for its intended purpose, or other terms of the agreement are not met, the fund may initiate its termination, as well as file a claim with the courts for the return of the allocated money.

Let us clarify that you must understand that receiving a grant is not the most difficult thing; you also need to fulfill the requirements of the fund that allocated it to you.

Conclusion

To receive a grant for your business, you need to stock up on time and patience. You will also need to develop a project and business plan, which will be considered by the commission. It's not an easy task, but all your efforts will be worth it.
