So, Vasya decided not to rush and carefully prepared for a new life stage, which was called "free floating in the world of business."

During the few years that our designer worked for the company, he learned that there are about 10 similar companies in the market of his city, and they all provide similar services.

He asked his friend Pasha to go to these companies under the guise of a client and identify their strengths and weaknesses in order to further develop competitive advantages by working for himself.

After commercial intelligence, Pasha named a number of strengths and weaknesses of these companies. Pasha arranged these sides in a table so that it would be convenient for Vasya to compare them.

Strengths of Vasya's competitors:

  • the interior designer of these companies makes an inspection and measurement of the object for free;
  • all companies provide a discount on the subsequent finishing of the apartment;
  • 7 out of 10 companies give a client a gift certificate for a 30% discount when ordering a design project from them again;
  • managers of 9 out of 10 companies talk attentively with the client, correctly ascertaining his needs.

Weaknesses of Vasya's competitors:

  • 8 out of 10 companies try to oversell too many additional products and services on their first meeting with a customer. This causes his negative reaction;
  • the interior designer in all 10 companies, at the first conversation with a potential client, conducts a dialogue in a complex professional language using a large number of special terms;
  • 7 out of 10 companies charge extra for editing computer-aided design projects.

Taking into account all the above pros and cons of competitors, our hero Vasily decided to design the interiors of houses and apartments in his city at a lower price. Similar companies on the market provide these services more expensively, since they spent a lot of money on maintaining a workplace and paying taxes for an employee.

The cost of the services of our designer was now one and a half times lower with the proper quality of execution of design projects.

This completed the second step of building your business from scratch with Vasily Pupkin.

Step 3. Decide on the positioning of your business and draw up a Unique Selling Proposition (USP)

In order for your customers to understand what exactly you offer them and what makes you unique, you will need to decide on your positioning. In other words, in what light will you present yourself to your client.

Let's return to our fictional character Vasily, who wanted to open his own business and was at the stage of developing an offer for the customer.

Vasya already had a good portfolio and a number of testimonials from satisfied clients, but how to show all this to your potential customers?

Then Vasya said to himself: "I'm a designer!", and decided to create his own website on the Internet.

Here he posted his portfolio, reviews, information about himself and his experience, as well as his contacts, so that a potential client could easily contact him.

You can briefly write down the main stages that you have to go through to organize and launch your project. Draw diagrams and drawings, make explanations for them.

If at the moment your services are not relevant for them, ask them for contacts of people to whom they could recommend you.

It's no secret that for a large audience coverage and automatic self-presentation, you just need to create a website for yourself.

In the meantime, the hero of our business story, Vasily, did not sit idle and developed a personal website for himself, created groups on social networks, notified the environment about the services he provided, and sent out commercial offers to his potential clients.

Step 6. Launching a business, earning the first money and building a brand

Having completed all the previous steps, you gradually approached the most interesting stage - the first orders, and therefore the first profits.

6. The real story of how my friend Misha worked as a security guard and became a businessman

You turn on the TV, and there, with the help of films and special programs, they teach you how to kill, rob, catch someone or run away from someone, they teach you to defend your homeland from eternal enemies.

In general, both for the type of smart, that is, for people with education, and for scumbags - we have enough work. As for the women, excuse me, women, then they also have something to do, they are taught on a box, first of all - to spread their legs so that the gentlemen always have a large number of bedding available, which are now slipping into large cities, like witches for a Sabbath, so that trade your wretched body. After all, today they teach those who do not want to study and read books, right? And business, good, real business - these guys are not for you. And I’m not talking about politics at all, it’s becoming outlawed in our country, you can’t discuss it. Imagine, you can vote, but what you vote for cannot be discussed and studied. So that's why you're not in business yet, that's why you have no idea how it works. Nobody needs you to hell, teach you business, work, and work as much as possible, work for gentlemen who don’t give a damn about you. Did you think that you were born to weave bast shoes or mine coal, or to knock on the keys in the office, is this what, like your destiny? If you decide to become a businessman, then you need to learn how to manage people, negotiate with people, enter into certain agreements with them, motivate them when it comes to your employees, and also attract the attention of your customers and partners.

People who do not know how to negotiate with each other, who do not know how to fulfill their obligations to their customers, business partners, and employees will not be able to do business. And even more so, those people who do not know how to manage other people, who do not know how to get the result they need from them, will not be able to create a truly successful business. Well, there’s nothing wrong with that, people are people, they can’t always be tamed. But we must try, we must negotiate with people, we must try to hear ourselves and them in these negotiations. Practice, practice and again practice, without it you will not learn anything, not the ability to negotiate with people through fruitful negotiations, and, as a result, not to conduct a successful business. So practice in this direction, make your tongue playful, let it learn to feed you. Just for starters, study the theory so as not to make childish mistakes when communicating with people.

Ability to be disciplined, practical, persistent

The ability to be a disciplined, practical and persistent person, these are friends, the ability to be a person, and not a trimmed monkey. An undisciplined person, let alone creating a business, he cannot keep track of himself, such a person is not much different from a monkey, he does only what he wants to do, and does not think at all about what needs to be done and how to do it right do one thing or another, in one situation or another. It was impossible to deal with such fools, but they, nevertheless, were engaged in business, or rather, they were engaged in its imitation, because they were useless businessmen. Even if a person is late for a meeting - for five minutes, only five minutes, this already speaks either of his rudeness and disrespect for other people, or of his indiscipline. You need to work with such people very carefully, because the lack of discipline is the lack of control of a person over his body, his instincts and possibly over his brains.

As for practicality, it is closely related to discipline, because if you are a bast shoe, when you can be practical, everything will go through your ass, forgive me for this expression. A practical person cannot be undisciplined, because in order to do at least some serious business, you need to be a moderately collected person. Even some bandit or corrupt official who does not know how to create, but only knows how to destroy, break, harm, take away, punish, limit, even such people need discipline to achieve results from their actions. And for business, discipline is all the more necessary. Do you want to learn business? Develop discipline in yourself, without it nowhere. And then, you will be practical, I assure you, because every deed done as it should be, some result, but always gives. Let you not always be satisfied with the results you get, it's not scary, the main thing is that you, for your part, do everything necessary to get this result at all.

In addition to discipline, in order to be practical, you need to be a prudent, economical, reliable, reasonable person. You won’t do something in your life just like that, for no reason, you won’t take a shovel and start digging a hole for something there, right? You probably first think about what and why you need to do. If you need to dig a hole, then you need to think about why you need it and how best to dig it, and are there other ways to solve the problem that you set for yourself when you decided to dig a hole? In business, you cannot act spontaneously, which is why people create business plans in order to clearly understand what exactly they will do and how they can best do this business. Don't do anything for nothing, don't make hasty decisions, don't do the work yourself that you can entrust to other people, such as lawyers or accountants, in short, be practical.

Well, when it comes to perseverance, I immediately remember the words of the 30th President of the United States, Calvin Coolidge, who said: Nothing can replace perseverance. Talent will not replace her; there is nothing more common than failures with talent. Genius will not replace it either; a genius who achieved nothing was almost proverbial. Education will not be a substitute either; the world is full of educated renegades. Only perseverance and determination are omnipotent.

You understand, friends, a lot of things in this life do not work the first time. At least crack, and even with the most careful calculations, when it already seems that, well, he took into account all the little things, foresaw everything, thought through everything, but still, something might not work out. But our good with you lies in the fact that in many cases we have a sufficiently large limit of attempts that we can easily use, so that, if not from the first, and not from the tenth, then at least from a hundred the first time to achieve the desired result in a particular case. Well, life is so arranged, what can you do, and smart men and smart women know about it, understand it, so they never give up. Go to the end in your endeavors, do not be a slouch, sour at the first failures, failures are cool, mistakes are a thrill, make mistakes and break off as often as possible, and then your victory will be great. Keep in mind that a person goes to real victories through defeats, if you have never had defeats in your life, then you have never won. A businessman is a fighter, a person who challenges an aggressive external environment, and does not bend under it like a gray mass.

Therefore, if you want to do business, you need to be able to lie. But, pay attention, unlike most ordinary people, who are also not distinguished by crystal honesty, a businessman, like a politician, must lie beautifully. A businessman needs to create the illusion of caring for his employees, the illusion of caring for his customers, which, by the way, may not be so far from reality, but still it will only be an illusion of good intentions. After all, his main task, a businessman, is to maximize profits, I repeat this to you again. And everyone knows very well, all businessmen, I mean that selling air, selling illusions, selling garbage, not to mention empty promises, is the most profitable type of business.

Therefore, a businessman must be able to lie beautifully, you see, he must. He has to deceive his employees, promising them “mountains of gold”, he has to deceive his clients by selling them all sorts of nonsense, he has to cheat with various government agencies that are ready to destroy his business for their own benefit. You see, a person has to lie, otherwise he will not survive. Is it possible to conduct an honest business? Of course you can, in general you can live an honest life and not be left without pants. But not in this world and not with these people. After all, the system under which we live today is built on a lie. Being honest is futile, not because it is somehow stupid, but because the world perceives honesty as a manifestation of weakness. Weakness is punishable. At the same time, oddly enough, some people are ready to fight and die for the truth, for justice. But we built the world on a lie, and therefore, people themselves want to be deceived, because because of their weakness they are afraid of the truth like fire, and some, especially arrogant human beings, simply do not deserve the truth. So learn to lie beautifully, since you can practice this business all the time and everywhere. Without a beautiful lie, you will not be able to create a good business - people will not forgive you for your honesty, because they see it as a weakness.

In business, as I wrote above, you will have to lose, there is no way without it, because in this business you will not be able to win all the time, because you are not the only one so smart who knows everything and can do everything. But defeat, tempers the character, it makes you more resistant to the blows of fate, it teaches you to take the blows. And there are a lot of these blows in this life, so you definitely need to be prepared for them. How to learn to lose? Well, a loss is a loss, if someone beat you or, if you want, fucked you, then you have no choice but to accept defeat, because you yourself understand that after a fight they don’t wave their fists, it’s stupid. The point here is not the defeat as such, the point is something else - the desire to continue the game after the defeat, when you need to lick your wounds, recover, analyze what happened in order to understand the reason for the defeat, and then, taking into account all your mistakes, start a new game. That is, you need to have balls in your pants to be willing to get up after a fall. To do this, always remember your pride, your greatness, your Self, freedom and the right to a decent life. And fight for it! And I will tell you this, after losing, it is much more interesting to play, because in this case a person has a burning desire to win back, or if you want to take revenge. No wonder they say that a wounded animal is always more dangerous, especially such an animal as a person. If life didn't kill you, then what? That's right - it made you stronger. So, in order not to lose heart after a defeat, just prepare for it in advance.

As the samurai code says: Every samurai must remember death and do everything as if it were the last time. If a samurai remembers death, then he is ready to face the enemy. If a samurai is ready to face the enemy, he is invincible.

Imagine a reality in which you have already lost, turn on your imagination and live the bitterness of defeat, suffer your entire state after this defeat, feel the pain and despair that come to us at the moment when we lose. Feel the anger that comes to us later, after we realize that we have lost, and which forces us to take revenge. In general, the psychological readiness to lose, with the expectation, of course, of winning in the future, will make your psyche more tempered and this hardening will help you survive any defeat, even the most cruel and humiliating. The ability to lose is what distinguishes a strong person from a weak one, a successful person from a loser, men from boys. Learn to lose, in business this skill will come in handy.
