4.12. Working with periodicals
Today, a huge number of printed materials are produced, and it is very important for the child reader to be able to navigate the flow of information. The librarian's task is to try to acquaint the reader with the largest possible number of periodicals addressed to children, to teach how to use them, to draw attention to the best publications. It is very important that from childhood the child treats periodicals with interest. Periodicals provide children with extensive information on various branches of knowledge, assist in the study of the school curriculum, expand their knowledge of the world around them.

Various forms and methods of working with periodicals, both traditional and innovative, help to teach young readers to use the reference apparatus of the publication, to find material on a topic of interest. Libraries receiving periodicals actively use them in their work. Children's libraries of the region successfully use such forms of work with periodicals as educational and game hours, magazine presentations, reviews of the contents of magazines, library lessons, etc.

One of the characteristic features of the formation of the fund of children's libraries was the expansion of the range of periodicals. Often, with the help of periodicals, inquiries are made, mass events are held, articles from periodicals are painted in various databases and card indexes.

Conducting a sociological study on the reading of children, librarians will certainly find out the question of reading periodicals. As can be seen from the analysis of forms, questionnaires, oral polls, young readers willingly turn to newspaper and magazine products.

But not only within the walls of the library there is an acquaintance with magazines and newspapers. In the children's library. VK Petonov, Osinsky district, librarians actively cooperate with the social rehabilitation center, conduct reviews of interesting children's magazines; the librarian of the Lakhin rural library brings magazines to the homes of disabled children.

Employees of the DB of the Ziminsky City Central Hospital continued to work with disabled children under the project "Complicity in Destiny". Throughout the year, the Periodicals at Home service allowed those who were unable to visit the library in person for health reasons. Librarians of the village Lugovsky, Mamsko-Chuisky district, cooperate with a rehabilitation center for minors, acquaint children with magazines, read interesting articles.

In order to form the information and reading culture of children in the region's libraries, library lessons are held to promote periodicals: “Through the pages of newspapers and magazines”, “No matter how many books I read, there is no newer than a magazine » (library No. 21 of the Central Library System of Irkutsk); "News of the Magazine World", "Pochemuchkin Magazines" (Library No. 37, children's department); "Journey through periodicals" (DB of the Slyudyansky region); "Journey to the Country of Journalism", "Journal Kaleidoscope" (CDB), "What does the postman bring?" (libraries of the village of Uk, Atagay, Kostino); "Planet Periodicals", "Magazine carousel" (Alzamay city, Nizhneudinsky district); "Jokes, there were, fables: all the magazine pages" (Tyretskaya rural library); “Journey to the Country of Journalism” (Semenovskaya Rural Library of the Central Library System of the Zalarinsky District).

Due to the lack of new periodicals in the Bolshezaimskaya rural library, a library lesson "Through the pages of magazines of past years" was held.

On the Day of the Russian Press in the Verkhne-Martynovskaya library of the Kazachinsko-Lensky district, the event "Empire of Magazines" was held at a good organizational level, where the children got acquainted with the magazines "Klepa", "Domovenok", "Murzilka", "Sibiryachok" and other publications. In the Katanga Central Library System, library lessons with the game elements "Journal Kaleidoscope" are held for children from the correctional school.

There are interesting reviews of children's magazines "Filya", "Fidget", "Veselye urokami", "Misha", "Toshka and company", "Tom and Jerry" in the children's library of the Slyudyansky district. In the CDB Usolye-Sibirskoye review "Magazine kaleidoscope » helps children navigate the variety of magazines received by the library. "Magazine nooks" - this is the name under which a review of the magazines "Young Pathfinder", "Erudite", "Miracles and Adventures", "Svirel", "I am 15", "Juliet", "Marusya" was reviewed in the Central Library System of Nizhneudinsky District After the review, 32 copies were issued. magazines. In the Central Library System of Cheremkhovo, librarians successfully conduct reviews, conversations, quizzes, the answers to which children found in magazines. This form of work awakens children's interest in knowledge, helps to expand their horizons.

In the library No. 4 of the Zimino city CLS, the event “A wonderful magazine somehow fell into my hands” was creatively held, in the children's library - “Learn and be surprised”.

The purpose of the day of periodicals "Discovering the riches of the magazine kingdom", held in the Central Children's Library of Nizhneudinsk, was to acquaint readers with the range of magazines subscribed to by the library, to foster a culture of reading periodicals. The program of the day was made up of a conversation game « To make children know more, there are newspapers and magazines " (3 grades), the game-journey "Through the country Magazines" (5 grades), library lesson "Coffee table" (7kl.). The story about the best children's magazines was prepared in a theatrical form. The children were introduced to the periodicals by the postman Pechkin.

"The world of interesting magazines, it's yours!" - this was the name of the day of periodicals for children of grades 5–8, which took place in the children's department of the Rodnik library. The purpose of the event was to form in children an idea of the magazines, their structure, frequency of publication, circulation, etc. . The purpose of the library lesson "Through the Pages of Newspapers and Magazines" is to acquaint 8th grade students with a variety of periodicals, to teach how to use periodicals materials in the educational process.

Library No. 3 of the Ziminsky City Central Library Service held a day of periodicals "Periodicals - your friend, will help you while your leisure time!"

How to attract children to the library? Librarians successfully solve this issue with the help of magazines and newspapers, organizing various public events. To attract fifth-graders to read magazines in the Central Children's Library of Nizhneudinsk, they were offered to make a "Journey to the Country of Journalism". As a decoration, they organized a book exhibition of children's magazines "The whole magazine round dance" with the sections "Wise nature teaches us at any time of the year", "Anything for the soul", "Read and smile".

I would also like to note the game-journey "Visiting the Pencil", dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the magazine "Veselye Kartinki" (Central Children's Library, Usolye-Sibirskoye).

Exhibition activities play an important role in working with periodicals. In the libraries of Irkutsk, the exhibitions “What did the postman bring us?”, “Journal rainbow” (library No. 22) were designed. The children's department of the Sputnik library organized for its readers a recommendation exhibition "What did the postman bring us?" In the Bazhirskaya rural library, the guys got acquainted with the new acquisitions at the exhibition "What did the postman bring us?"

During the year, the Central Children's Library in Shelekhov hosted an exhibition-advertisement "Young erudite - a magazine for the curious", an electronic presentation-exhibition and a quiz on the magazine "Fairy tales" Sibiryachka ", an informational exhibition" Journal Empire ". On subscriptions to the Central Children's Library in Cheremkhovo, the exhibitions "Magazine Carousel", "How many books have not read, there is no newer than the magazine" are constantly updated.

During the school summer holidays, the Central Library Service of Irkutsk hosted an action "Summer - it's time to read!" » ... More than 130 young readers took part in the action.

During the summer holidays in the day camp and in the Istoki dispensary, reviews “On a visit to Sibiryachk” (Nizhneudinsky district) were conducted. Within the framework of the “Library under the Sun” project, Svirsk librarians have created favorable conditions for reading and viewing books and magazines in the fresh air.

During the summer holidays, contests and exhibitions based on the materials of the magazine "Miracles and Adventures for Children" were organized for children in the Pokosinsky rural library of the Bratsk district. The program of events turned out to be interesting and rich. An article about this event was published in No. 10 of the magazine for 2011.

2011 was a jubilee year for the Sibiryachok magazine. A literary journey through the pages of the magazine "Sibiryachok" was carried out in the children's library No. 6 in Usolye-Sibirskoye. The presenters told the children that in 1992 the only children's magazine in the whole of Siberia and the Far East began to be published - Sibiryachok, which offers its readers fairy tales, short stories, funny riddles, comics and unexpected surprises. An interesting and informative literary and musical holiday "Together with" Sibiryachk "we will enter the world of nature" was held in the DB of the Slyudyansky district . The week of children's books in the Central Children's Library in Nizhneudinsk was dedicated to the Sibiryachok magazine. In Zalarinskaya DB, the quiz game aroused great interest among readers « Do you know the Sibiryachok magazine? " A large literary holiday dedicated to the anniversary of the magazine took place in the Central Children's Library of the Kazachinsko-Lensky region. The decoration of the creative room of the Family Reading Library of Nizhneilimsky District was dedicated to Sibiryachka, and a competition of snow sculptures dedicated to the favorite magazine was also held there. In the libraries of Bratsk, Svirsk, Sayansk, in the DB im. VK Petonov, Osinsky district, creative meetings of young readers with the editorial board of the magazine "Sibiryachok" took place. During the year there was a series of presentations of the magazine "" Sibiryachok "for Siberians", "My friend Sibiryachok", "Happy birthday, Sibiryachok!"

Libraries of Irkutsk on the site "Journal Jubilees" presented virtual exhibitions dedicated to the anniversaries of the magazines "Koster", "Murzilka", "Sibiryachok". The CDB has developed a window advertisement campaign "We read magazines". In the Central Children's Library in Nizhneudinsk, at a permanent stand in the foyer, advertising lists “It's interesting” about the most interesting articles from periodicals are posted.

Librarians realize that without studying the advanced experience of colleagues, without improving their professional level by studying such periodicals as "Library", "Bibliopole", "Library newspaper", "School library", "Library business", etc., it is impossible to fully provide library and information services. Unfortunately, not all libraries have the opportunity to subscribe to the press, therefore information and analytical reviews of periodicals (Slyudyansky, Irkutsky, Chunsky regions, Cheremkhovo, Nizhneudinsk) are regularly conducted at regional seminars.

In the context of financial constraints on acquisition, the availability of periodicals in the funds is of particular importance. In this regard, the experience of children's libraries in Sayansk is interesting, which the magazine Rodina and Zemlya Irkutskaya singled out as “Monuments of the regional level” subject to long-term storage.

Working with periodicals is very important, since children's periodicals awaken children's interest in knowledge, contributing to the expansion of their horizons. Analysis of the work of children's libraries in the region with periodicals revealed the creative approach of librarians to their activities, a constant search for the most effective forms and methods of work, which is a prerequisite for actively attracting children and adolescents to libraries and expanding their readers' horizons. It is also important that librarians do not stand aside from the interests of the reader, constantly study the motives of referring to periodicals and timely adjust their activities.
