Here's how much a taxi costs in different cities of the world: Rating. KiwiTaxi - convenient transfer around the world Book a transfer around the world

It's no secret that a taxi transfer is the fastest and most convenient of all types of transfers. In some cases, a taxi transfer can also be beneficial. In European countries, public transport fares are very high. If you are several people, then a taxi may simply be cheaper than public transport, because the cost of a taxi does not depend on the number of people, and the cost of travel on public transport is directly proportional to the number of people.

In popular tourist cities, a group transfer by shuttle bus is also possible. It works according to the principle of our route taxi... You order such a transfer and go to your hotel with other passengers. The bass shuttle consistently travels around all the booked hotels. Group transfers are cheaper and generally beneficial if you are traveling alone or as a couple. For three or more persons, it is more profitable to take an individual transfer.

In this article I will tell you about my experience of using a city taxi in Prague, Vienna, Rome, Lisbon, St. Petersburg and my experience of using services from international companies, transfer organizers. In short, we used the services of two companies. Each of them has its own strengths and weak sides:

  1. - maximum guarantees will wait for your flight at any time of delay without changing the cost of transportation. They will send a Russian-speaking driver, if possible. But the prices are higher.
  2. - they promise to wait for your flight for free for 1 hour, they don't promise a Russian-speaking driver, stricter cancellation rules than KiwiTaxi. But this company offers shuttle bus transfers in many cities. If you want to use a group transfer, you should look for it on this site.

In Russia, the Baltic States, and in all countries of the former socialist camp, it is very common to scam tourists by taxi drivers. In Western Europe, guests from the east very often work as taxi drivers, by definition they are very cunning people, taxi companies of course struggle with them, but you cannot give a full guarantee.

In Western European countries, all services ordered via the Internet are cheaper than in person with a service provider. So, for example, in Norway, the cost of a ticket for public transport purchased from the driver is higher than for the same ticket purchased from a machine or kiosk. In Stockholm, the price of a City Sightseeing bus ticket online is lower than that of the driver. The main idea of the modern capitalist world is that any additional labor must be paid. The driver accepts money from you, issues a ticket, he should receive a reward for this.

Therefore, in Western Europe, a transfer ordered in advance on the website will cost less than a taxi at the airport or train station.

To divorce tourists, taxi drivers use several tricks:

  1. Taking advantage of the fact that the tourist does not know the new city, they can ride in circles in order to simply wind up the counter. This is the most innocent method.
  2. They can be taken on toll roads when it is not necessary. The taxi driver, as a rule, has a subscription for travel on toll roads, but he will charge you as for a one-time trip.
  3. Taxi drivers can work at airports and train stations at very high rates. Locals do not use such a taxi, because know the contacts of more budget taxi services.

Examples of overpricing by taxi drivers from personal life

Never take a taxi at the airport or train station upon arrival in St. Petersburg. I live in St. Petersburg. I know of several cases of unheard-of overpricing. One of our friends from Israel was taken from the airport to the Pulkovskaya Hotel for 4000 rubles. (8.1 km, 10 minutes without traffic jams), this was in 2012, this amount is still large today, but then it was simply colossal. Today, a trip of 50 km in St. Petersburg costs less than 1000 rubles.

But that's not all, even my brother, a native of St. Petersburg, was taken from the airport to his home (about 50 km) for the same 4000 rubles. It turns out that the cost of the trip is calculated by the taxi drivers on duty at the airport based on the impression made by the client. If it looks good, it attracts a foreigner - one price, if local - another price. My brother even tried to argue with the taxi driver, because he knew very well how much taxi services cost in our city. It is not possible to predict in advance how much these bribery will charge you.

Alas, this situation with taxis for tourists is typical not only for St. Petersburg.

In Prague, we asked to call us a taxi at the reception of our hotel. The hotel is three stars. And what do you think. An unmarked car arrived, they charged us about 36 € (2013). Then I did not know yet that you can order a taxi for yourself via the Internet. In 2019, a transfer in Prague costs 28 € (when ordering from KiwiTaxi) and 16 € (when ordering from Intui.travel). In Prague, of course, compared to St. Petersburg, they are not such arrogant taxi drivers.

The first time we used KiwiTaxi on our trip to Vienna, we immediately felt the difference. Upon arrival in Vienna, we just took a taxi at the airport. But we ordered a transfer back on the KiwiTaxi website, mainly because we rented an apartment and there was simply no one to ask to call us a taxi, we do not speak German, and we are not sure of our correct pronunciation of the address of our apartment in English on the phone. In total, it turned out that we went there for 44 € in a city taxi, and back for 38 € for a KiwiTaxi.

Transfer order is irreplaceable in case of not knowing foreign languages... You don't have to explain anything to the taxi driver, you enter the address on the site simply by copying it from the booking or another site on which you booked a hotel or apartment.

Ordering a transfer can be very helpful if you do not need to go to the city in which the airport is located, but to the neighboring one. If you can still hope to take a taxi around the city at the airport, then it is not reasonable to expect to find someone who will take you to another city right on the spot.

If you have more than one young child, it would be wise to book a transfer and indicate in additional conditions the number of young children requiring a child seat. The driver may have one child seat, but hardly two or three.

Transfer ordering services allow you not to depend on the arbitrariness of drivers and save money. Because in all cases known to me, the price when ordering on the site was less than when using an official city taxi.

In my report on the trip to Rome, I wrote that we used. In Rome, the fare from the airport to the city center is listed on the door of each car, apparently the authorities are thus fighting the crooks behind the wheel.

The tariff for transportation by a city taxi in Rome, all taxis have such inscriptions

In fact, in the official city taxi in Rome, the fare from Fiumicino airport is 48 €, only within the Aurelian Walls, if you need to go to another place, then the cost will be higher. In general, Italians are cunning people, read, and keep your ear sharp, do not let yourself be fooled.

Transfer review from KiwiTaxi

In Rome, we used KiwiTaxi. There were three of us. Transfer by Aeroexpress to Termini station costs 14 € per person, to other stations 8 € by regional train. We had to get to Termini and then take the tram 7 stops, i.e. in addition to the train tickets, you would have to buy 3 more ground transport tickets for 1.5 €. This difficult route would probably take 2-3 hours of our time, while we figured out where to go, how to buy tickets, wait first for the Aeroexpress, and then for the tram, and that after a sleepless night.

The trip with KiwiTaxi took only 30 minutes of our time and cost us only 42 € for December 2016. The driver met us at the arrivals area of the airport. We did not find it right away, because in the arrival area there were about 50 people with signs and different names on them, which indicates that the people began to understand the difference and their benefits, well, Rome is a big city. In any case, we spent no more than 10 minutes looking for a driver, we were already going to call KiwiTaxi, and he was immediately found. Our plane was 40 minutes late, maybe that's why there was such a hitch.

The driver checked our voucher (printout from the website), accompanied us to the car, helped to load the luggage, and opened the car doors for everyone. The driver spoke Russian very well and during the trip told a lot of interesting things about life in Rome and Italy. The car was without "checkers", but it was a Mercedes that looked almost new. They took money from us exactly according to the account without extortion of tips and other unforeseen fees. KiwiTaxi promises to send a Russian-speaking driver whenever possible. Of our three trips with KiwiTaxi, a Russian-speaking Bulgarian drove us once.

On the way back from the hotel to the airport, everything was just as great. The car was delivered to the hotel on time, we arrived quickly, it was 4 o'clock in the morning, the money was taken exactly according to the account.

Naturally. KiwiTaxi is not the only taxi ordering service in the world, it has competitors offering lower prices in some places.

Intui.travel transfer review

Here I even have nothing to describe. I booked a transfer to Lisbon from the airport. The only thing that upset me was that when placing an order, I did not see information that the car would wait for us for free for only 1 hour. I saw this information already in my voucher after making the payment. This can be attributed to a small scam of this site.

Fortunately, our flight arrived on time, we saw the driver with my name on the sign right in the arrivals area. We went straight to the car. The driver was polite, helped to load the luggage, opened all the doors. The car was checkered, i.e. this is an official taxi. He brought us to the house and even escorted us to the door. Our apartment was located on a pedestrian street, it was not possible to drive up to it, he offered his help to contact the hostess. But no help was needed, the hostess (or rather the woman who is responsible for settling in) quickly approached.

The transfer cost 15 €. In principle, this is the price of an official taxi, unless the driver thinks you a little or cheats you up.

The owner of our apartment offered us to organize a transfer for us for 20 €. Transfers ordered from hotels usually cost more than self-arranged ones. After all, the owners of hotels and apartments have to earn something on this.

Comparison of Intui.travel and KiwiTaxi

Identical features

  1. Intui.travel and KiwiTaxi position themselves as an international vehicle transfer search and booking system.
  2. All companies have a Russian interface on their websites.
  3. All companies offer several types of vehicles in terms of capacity and convenience. If you have children, you need to indicate, then a car with a child seat will come. If you have a lot of luggage, you must also indicate this so that a more spacious car will come for you.
  4. All companies are asked to provide the flight number in case of a delay. And they give a local phone in case of unforeseen situations.
  5. Drivers of all companies will wait for you at the airport in case of flight delays. But not all companies will do this without a charge. additional fee.
  6. All companies will charge you a small prepayment as a sign of the seriousness of your intentions.... You are scared to pay in advance, but they are scared to fulfill the order, suddenly it was just a joke and no one needed the transfer, and the driver would lose his time.
  7. All companies work according to the same scheme - a driver with a sign with your name meets you at the airport, as a rule, they have a fixed price for a transfer within the city and wide range of transfers from airports to popular resorts or to neighboring cities, again at a fixed price.

Various traits

  1. You need to make an order at least 16 hours before the intended trip from KiwiTaxi, and not less than 24-48 hours from Intui.travel, preferably earlier, so as not to balance on the brink of a foul.
  2. KiwiTaxi will wait for you at the airport as long as necessary, no extra charge. Intui.travel will wait only 1 hour free of charge, the rest of the time at the rate applicable in that particular country.
  3. Intui.travel allows you to cancel your order without penalties at least 2-5 days (depending on the specific country) prior to its execution, and KiwiTaxi makes free cancellation up to 24 hours.

It turns out that Intui.travel has stricter conditions for using the service, but prices for some destinations are significantly lower than KiwiTaxi's. Intui.travel frankly declares that the price when booking may increase, they have a more flexible price grid depending on the distance, unlike KiwiTaxi. KiwiTaxi has an almost fixed price within the city, while Intui.travel has a difference depending on the area of the city.

As always, everything is fair - maximum guarantees are more expensive, the less guarantees the cheaper the transfer price.

I will consider, for example, only the most popular tourist cities, transfer from the airport to the city center. Prices are in Euros. Naturally, prices are for November 2019, they may change in the future. The price for Intui.travel is indicated for a transfer to the city center; for this service, prices vary depending on the area.

If the numbers are 9/20, then the first number is the price of a seat in the shuttle bus, and the second is the price of an individual taxi transfer for 3-4 people. In popular tourist cities, Intui.travel almost always wins. The shuttle bass, unlike an individual transfer, will not wait for you in the event of a flight delay, you will be put on the next scheduled bus.

In your particular case, you will have to check all the companies, which of them will offer you more favorable conditions of transportation.

And he asks you to make a small advance payment on the site immediately as a sign of the seriousness of your intentions. The rest of the money can be given to the driver at the end of the transfer. If you arrive in a country whose currency you do not have, it is advantageous to pay for the trip in full on the website, since it is not profitable to change money at the airport in any country in the world.

Both companies naturally ask to notify them immediately if you cancel the transfer or any unforeseen circumstances such as:

  1. Missed the flight.
  2. Lost my luggage

If you fail to appear without notice with any company, you will lose your prepayment. Kiwi Taxi guarantees, in the event of a breakdown in the transfer due to the driver's fault, to compensate for the difference in price between the transfer by city taxi and the transfer ordered from them.

When you arrive by train or fly by plane to an unfamiliar city, it is very difficult to navigate how to get, for example, to a hotel, or just to the right address. There are several ways to solve this problem. Firstly, you can ask local residents how and what you can get to and where the stop is, then go there with your luggage, wait for a bus (minibus, trolleybus, etc.) - in short, there is little pleasant, especially if you have heavy luggage, but the street is three o'clock in the morning ...

Secondly, you can use the services of a local taxi - since there are plenty of taxi drivers at any train station and at any airport. But they usually break the price “Mama don’t worry” ... A trip lasting 10 minutes can cost you quite a tidy sum.

KiwiTaxi is your assistant when you need a high-quality and inexpensive transfer in an unfamiliar country.

How to order Kiwitaxi

Right on the main page of the service there is a form where you need to enter the place WHERE you need the transfer and the place WHERE you need to go. For example, you need to get from Domodedovo airport to the center of Moscow:

On the page with transfer options you will find the following information:

  1. How long will the road take
  2. Cars available for order, indicating their description, the maximum number of passengers carried and the number of luggage spaces
  3. Transfer cost

There are a few important points which you should definitely pay attention to:

  • The transfer price is indicated for the car - it does not depend on the number of passengers and the destination address within the city (for some cities, for example, Dubai, the cost will differ for different areas). You indicate the exact address or name of the hotel when placing an order.
  • If the passenger includes a child, please indicate that a child seat is required. In most countries, the presence of a child seat is strictly required, and its absence is punishable by a fine. If you do not order a child seat in advance, the driver has the right to refuse your carriage.
  • If you have not found a ready-made transfer on your route, you can leave a request. In this case, managers will manually search for all suitable options and send the result to you by email within 48 hours.
  • The order must be made in advance, for any date, but no later than 16 hours before the trip.
On the transfer order page, you enter your number (train, bus), date and time of arrival, destination, your contacts, etc. Here you can immediately see the final price, which the transfer will cost you.

Transfer payment

At the last stage of ordering, you make an advance payment (there is a possibility of 100% payment). Prepayment is made by plastic cards (VISA and MasterCard) or through PayPal. If the order is canceled at least 24 hours before the trip, the prepayment will be refunded.

After making a prepayment or full payment, the order will be confirmed and the car will be automatically booked for you. A confirmation email will be sent to your email address in the form of a voucher. Print your voucher and take it with you.

On the appointed day and hour, you will be met by a person with a sign with your name in his hands and a smile on his face. A trifle, but nice :)

The amount minus the prepayment that you made at the stage of registration of the application, you pay to the driver in cash after he takes you to the right place. Well, if you immediately paid 100% when placing an order, then just thank the driver.

But what if we suppose your flight is delayed by more than an hour from the original date? In this case, you contact the driver by phone (his number will be sent to your email one day before the trip) or the Kiwitaxi manager and inform him of the exact time of arrival. No additional payments for waiting no!

Advantages of ordering a transfer with Kiwitaxi

  1. You book a transfer in advance for the specified date and you are sure that they will meet you, help you load your luggage and take you where you need it.
  2. You know in advance how much you need to pay to the driver, it is fixed in the voucher and does not change. This saves you from the standard situation when the taxi driver will drive you in circles around the hotel, winding kilometers, and then will make a fabulous sum. The amount of payment in Kiwitaxi, as we indicated earlier, does not depend on the destination address within the city (city district).
  3. You can plan your route in advance up to the minute. This is especially true in cases where, for example, after arriving by train, you need to quickly get to the airport in order to catch the next flight.
  4. You can order a car of almost any class and capacity. There are 8 classes of cars in the Kiwitaxi fleet, from small economical ones to minibuses for 19 people.
  5. KiwiTaxi service has been operating since 2010 and during this time has accumulated a large database of the most reliable carriers. In addition, the company's managers constantly monitor customer reviews. If the driver does a bad job (he is late or does not arrive), he is simply excluded from the system.

March 22 - International Taxi Driver Day! Practically the first thing that we see when arriving in a foreign country is taxi drivers who promise to drive us to our destination. Active travelers have probably noticed that this type of transport differs in different parts of the world. Than - read on.

Sponsor of the post: Rent a trawl. Rent of a low loader trawl in Yekaterinburg for oversized transportation in Sverdlovsk region and Russia.

In China, before ordering a car, you need to clarify the price. Prices for the same route may differ by two or three times for different taxi companies. Payment is made strictly according to the tariff. And this is with not the best service. I am glad that the authorities strongly recommend that taxi drivers take a bath before work and prohibit smoking and spitting in cars.

2. South Korea

Here you can take one of the cheapest taxis in the world. The cost of the trip is calculated based on the taxi rental time. But if you find yourself in a traffic jam (which is very rare in Korea), then the counter will continue to count down the travel time. Despite the low cost of services, the Korean taxi is distinguished by a high level of comfort: transportation is carried out in premium cars.

In Japan, a taxi has its own rules: if the green light on the car is on, it is busy, the red light is free. No more than three people can be transported in a car. The fares are high: the meter starts at 710 yen (360 rubles), and if you get stuck in a traffic jam and at night, the fare increases by 30%. But in each car there is a video double, a refrigerator with a minibar and an air conditioner. And Japanese taxi drivers are completely dressed in uniforms with the logo of the transportation company. They will open the door for you before boarding and will not bore you with conversations.

American taxis are usually yellow, most of them Ford brands. In addition to being brightly colored, taxis in the United States have special bonnet plaques and roof lights. Do not try to sit next to the driver, passengers only ride in the back seat. Moreover, the driver's area is fenced off with a special transparent partition with a window. American taxi drivers also have similarities with ours: they do not speak well English language(the majority are emigrants) and often violate traffic rules.

Israeli taxi cars, on the other hand, are painted white. Moreover, they work even on the most special holidays and on Saturdays, when the whole country is resting. The order of a car by phone, as well as travel to holidays and at night. You can pay in two ways: by meter or by agreement with the driver. As a rule, it is more profitable for tourists to use the first method after all.

In Germany, taxis are entirely diesel Mercedes E-class. Moreover, all fares will be the same regardless of what model year the car is. What is luxury for a Russian is a usual thing for a German. In Germany, it is Mercedes that is considered one of the most reliable and inexpensive car brands to maintain.

The traditional taxi for the capital of Santorini, Fira, is a donkey taxi. Transport and driver are two in one. The thing is that on the island movement is carried out mainly from the bottom up the serpentine stairs. This way is beyond the power of cars, but for a donkey - just right.

Traditional English black cabs today are diluted with mini-cabs with advertising prints on the body. But the rules remain the same: the driver is separated from the passengers by a partition, and the luggage is placed in front, next to the driver. If the cabs fit 5 people, then in mini-versions - only 4 passengers. The payment is also different: in a traditional cab it is calculated by the counter and can be very high. If you use a mini-cab, you can negotiate the fare with the taxi driver.

If you think that taxi prices in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Sochi are huge, then think about those who live in Switzerland. For example, in Zurich and Geneva. The fact is that these cities topped the list of cities in the world with the most expensive fares for passenger transportation by taxi. It is worth noting that taxi fares vary significantly around the world due to a combination of various reasons, including living standards, fuel prices and the availability of a taxi license.

Carspring.co.uk recently published a 2017 World Price Index for taxi rides in 80 cities around the world. The team that compiles this world ranking of taxi prices in various cities around the world analyzed the cost of a taxi ride over a distance of 3 km in many cities around the world. Other tariffs for passenger transportation were also investigated. For example, analysts have compared the cost of a taxi ride in different cities around the world from the airport to the city center.

Top cities in the world with the most expensive taxi

As a result, Zurich topped the list with the most expensive taxi ride over 3 kilometers. On average, taxi passengers in Zurich will pay for 3 km of travel $25,25 ... Also, according to the study, another Swiss city is the second most expensive taxi city in the world. We are talking about Geneva, where the cost of a 3 km taxi ride is $17,53 .

Third place went to Tokyo, Japan. Here the cost of a 3 km taxi ride is $15,95 ... The fourth place is Copenhagen, Denmark - $13,77

Top cities in the world with the cheapest taxi

Thanks to the Worldwide Taxi Price Index, we can also find out which cities in the world have the cheapest services.

So, according to the study, the cheapest city in the world with the cheapest taxis is Cairo, in Egypt, where a 3 km taxi ride costs only $0,55 .

Jakarta, Indonesia ranks third in terms of the cheapest taxi transportation. $1,47 .

The fourth place is given to Bucharest, Romania, where, like Jakarta, the cost of a 3 km taxi ride is $1,47 ... Why then did Bucharest only take fourth place?

The fact is that in Romania, a trip from the airport to the center of Bucharest will cost more than in Jakarta. That is why today the rating of world taxi fares puts Bucharest in 4th place.

What place in the ranking does the cost of travel in the capital of Russia, Moscow, take? According to this index, Moscow ranks 24th in the world in terms of the cost of a taxi. According to carspring.co.uk, in Moscow, 3 km of travel is $4,32 ... It seems expensive. But do not forget that this price includes the average fares of all taxis in the city, as well as the cost of filing and the minimum fare for a certain amount of travel time.

The average cost of a trip from the airport to the center of Moscow, according to the British website, is $29,77 .

Why taxi prices differ significantly in all countries and cities?

As we have already said, there is a big difference in the tariffs for taxi services all over the world. For example, in many cities where taxi prices are overpriced, this is due to the cost of fuel in the country or region. In some cities of the world, the cost of taxi fares is added up due to the huge fees for obtaining a license for passenger transportation.

Accordingly, carriers then include their costs (investments) in all freight rates in order to justify the large investment in the license.

In particular, one of the important roles in the pricing of taxi fares in any city is played by the standard of living of the population, which is largely formed due to the well-being of people living in the city. The level of tourist flow also affects taxi pricing.

But often there are cities with a fairly high standard of living, with expensive fuel for and with an expensive taxi license, where taxi fares are very low. Why is this happening?

The culprit is modern electronic taxi aggregators. This trend is especially noticeable in those cities where Uber is the main taxi aggregator. Thanks to its marketing and low fares, Uber has repeatedly been the main culprit in plummeting taxi fares in many cities around the world.

However, do not forget that for any taxi ride, the fare is ultimately based on the cost of fuel. Nobody canceled the main thing economic rule - "The cheaper the fuel, the lower the cost of transportation".

For example, everyone knows that Dubai has a very high standard of living. Accordingly, the price level in the city is at a sufficient high level... But, despite this, the cost of fuel is very low in this city. As a result, taxi fares in Dubai are at a fairly low level.

So, in Dubai this summer, the cost of a 3 km taxi ride is $4,83 , which in terms of rubles is approximately 290 rubles or 96 rubles per 1 km. It is also quite cheap that anyone can get from the airport to the center of Dubai. This trip will cost on average $8,31 (about 495 rubles). Expensive? Then compare. The cost of the trip from Zurich airport to the city center is $70,09 (4 180 rubles).

Now let's take a closer look at the Top 3 most expensive cities in the world for the cost of taxi rides, and also learn more about the Top 3 cities with the cheapest taxi rides.
