What to do if checks fade - how to prevent? Faded cashier's check. Finding a replacement Faded check for tax what to do

Three months ago, my brother was paying a speeding ticket at Sberbank. And recently he received a notification that the debt was not repaid. He began to look for a payment receipt in order to prove the fact of the money transfer. But when I found the receipt, I was very upset - the check faded and it was almost impossible to read the information on it.

The brother did not bother and prove his case - he just paid 500 rubles again. And I thought: after all, checks for payments for utilities and other services really fade very often. How to deal with this?

I have prepared for you detailed instructions on how to preserve the information from the check and avoid negative consequences like my brother's. Also in the article I will tell you what to do if the check is still faded.

How to store a receipt so that it does not fade?

Of course, no matter how stored checks, they should not fade. But since this happens, here are some recommendations that will extend the "life" of the payment document:

  • keep receipts in a dark place - this can be a box, casket or desk drawer;
  • watch the humidity and temperature - humidity over 68% and temperatures above 20 degrees are considered destructive;
  • keep receipts separately from each other and do not allow them to touch - select a separate file for each document.

But it is impossible to guarantee that correct storage will completely preserve the readability of the receipt. Therefore, it is better to ensure 100% safety of information in advance.

How exactly to keep the data from the check readable?

There is only one reliable and proven way to save a check - to make a photocopy of it.

But many banks and other organizations do not recognize the taken copies as a document. There is only one way out - make a notarized copy.

However, such a service from a notary costs about 300 rubles. Therefore, it is advisable to do this only if the check is really important.

What if the check has already faded?

The most reliable way to recover data is through forensics. But this option is quite expensive, so I suggest alternative methods:

  • Heat the check slightly over the stove. But be careful, there is a risk of burning the document.
  • Wipe the surface of the document with a 1: 1 solution of salt and soda.
  • Iron your payment receipt with an iron at the lowest temperature. Be sure to use cheesecloth.

Hello) tell the EXPERTS how to copy the information as much as possible from a faded check, and how to extract it? in what? photoshop? and got the best answer

Answer from Cat meow [guru]
The first place you can make a mistake is photographing. Find the best light to evenly illuminate the check, then take pictures.
Secondly, open the image in Photoshop, crop it so as to remove everything that is not related to the receipt.
Third, add a "curves" layer effect. Take a look at the picture below. Pay attention to the line that crosses the square diagonally. Pay attention to the slides inside the square too.
Your task is to increase the contrast, turn the faded black.
Here is a slide - your information in the photo. Where there is no forge, there is no information. There is a ruler under the slide. Your task is to pull the black marker to the beginning of the slide, and the white marker to the end. Then the contrast will increase.
further, put a point (node) on the straight line and move it to find the optimal picture.
It is important that the receipt image is evenly illuminated, as if it were a scan. Otherwise, it will be difficult for you to adequately draw something out with the help of curves. Try, experiment, good luck 🙂

I don't have a scanner, I don't know. As a photographer, it is easier for me to set up a desk lamp and take a photo of a receipt with a phone or a DSLR.

Answer from The character[guru]
no way

Answer from Sanek841[guru]
Well play with adjustment layers in Photoshop: brightness / contrast, curves, levels

Answer from Weight[guru]
ultraviolet light to help the forensic scientist, infrared radiation and shooting in oblique rays, for a start, you can try to simply scan with a good resolution

Answer from Yovetlana Gladysheva[guru]
If you only illuminate from below (with cold light) and try to make out. You can even take a picture of the illuminated one, and then experiment with photography.
PS: In ultraviolet light, faded text is really visible much better.

Answer from Vladimir -[guru]
If it faded completely, then nothing.
And not completely - with my own eyes and a magnifying glass.

Answer from Fedor tyumentsev[active]
scan it, set the resolution higher for example 1200, process it better in Corel or Adobe Illustrator,
but, you must understand that the check is restored in any graphic editor, will not have legal force

Answer from Marana_tha[guru]
With the help of gentle heating, the inscription is restored. The main thing is not to exceed the temperature, otherwise it will all turn black.

Hey! Here is a selection of topics with answers to your question: Hello) tell the EXPERIENCES how to copy information as much as possible from a faded check, and how to extract it? in what? photoshop?

Check out last year's advance reports. Is it possible to make out the inscriptions on all cashier's checks? Perhaps you have suffered the same fate as our reader - cashier's checks have turned into blank sheets of paper. But not everything is as hopeless as it seems.

Don't panic!

- I'm shocked! - my friend Irina Solnechnaya immediately told me on the phone, Chief Accountant one of the capital firms. Irina is not an alarmist, so I tried to calmly find out what, in fact, is the matter.

- We will have soon tax audit, we are in the schedule, - Irina began her story. - On this occasion, I once again decided to review the availability of primary documents and the correctness of the advance reports. And, oh horror! In many advance reports, I found not just poorly read cashier's receipts, but ordinary white pieces of paper.

The first thought was to make new checks in the image and likeness of the disappeared. I even read about special programs, and found the craftsmen of this business.

- They are punished for forging documents ...

- Yes, I know, not a little one, - Irina dismissed. - Imprisonment for up to two years. And the use of a knowingly forged document - arrest for a period of three to six months. Criminal Code, article 327. But there are real checks, albeit pretty faded!

- Draw up an act of reconciliation with the supplier for amounts that are not visible on the check.

“I’ll probably do so with wholesalers. Moreover, they usually also issue a receipt to the parishioner.

But what to do with retail, I don’t know. Okay, if the sales receipts are handwritten or printed on a printer. There is at least some justifying document here. And what to do if a sales receipt is printed on thermal paper, which is what many supermarkets are guilty of? Or is there no merchandise at all, as, for example, when buying gasoline?

- Well, for the future I can say that you can take photocopies from checks, and then certify with a notary: from three to five rubles per check. In bulk, maybe cheaper. Or directly from the supplier. It is only necessary to calculate what will be less expensive - notary services or transportation costs.

- A photocopy is a good thing. At us now the secretary in the sweat of his brow removes copies of all checks. Only we decided to get off with a little blood. We certify the copies with our seal and signatures.

- Keep in mind that you also need to issue an order, where you indicate the reason why you are redoing the primary. Well, then certify the copies.

Instead of a check -blank paper

“The problem is that not all receipts can be photocopied,” my friend continued. - Some have faded so much that it is not so easy to make out the original text. The amount can still be guessed from the expense report. And the supplier and his details - alas!

- Don't be so upset. Maybe it will still be possible to come to an agreement with the tax authorities. They are people too! In addition, if you are lucky, they will be satisfied with this and will not dig deeper.

- Everything would be fine, - Irina sighed, - only the amount is very decent for our company. And it’s insulting how! Well, for your mistakes or negligence. And here...

- Maybe you did not comply with the storage conditions for checks?

- Yes, they didn't seem to be soaked in alcohol, they didn't put it under ultraviolet light, all the checks were filed in daddies along with advance reports. And who can now figure out who is right and who is wrong?

- You know, technologies that allow you to restore almost any image have existed for a long time (see the help "Father of forensic photography"). And I think that science does not stand still. So you can simply restore the faded text.

- The director is unlikely to go broke for examination, no matter how much it costs. Most likely, he will want to wait for the final decision of the tax authorities. And then it will decide whether the game is worth the candle.

Expertise at the expense of tax authorities

“It’s interesting, if the tax authorities will fine us for the lack of primary documents, and even recalculate taxes, and the company will challenge their decision in court, then at whose expense will the examination be carried out?” - Irina asked.

With this question, we turned to the expert of the berator "A check has come to you" Anton Luzhnov. “The amount necessary for the examination is paid to the deposit account by the party to the court case that will insist on it. If the initiative comes from both sides, then the costs will be divided equally.

Expertise appointed on the initiative arbitration court, spend at the expense of the federal budget. Therefore, practice shows that the courts are in no hurry to do this on their own initiative. Usually, in such a situation, the judges indicate that the examination is appointed on the initiative of any party or at the request of both parties, and accordingly they distribute the costs of paying for the services of experts.

However, I emphasize, in the end, the cost of the examination will be reimbursed by the one who will not benefit from its results. If the claim is partially satisfied, the court costs are divided between the participants in the case in proportion to the amount of the satisfied claims.

And since the examination will clearly confirm the authenticity of the cashier's check, the court will have to oblige the tax authorities to reimburse you for the costs of it, ”Anton Luzhnov assured.

Secrets of longevity of a cashier's check

So that the image from the cash register printed on thermal paper (it is thinner and whiter than usual, slightly translucent) does not disappear for the next five years, experts advise keeping this important document in special conditions.

First of all, this is a temperature of 18-24 ° C and a relative humidity of no more than 68 percent. Even the heat from the radiator will be enough to lose information. Never allow direct sunlight to hit the check. You cannot store receipts in a heap, facing each other.

It is also necessary to avoid getting on the paper of various chemicals, alcohols, and other solvents. Checks are "afraid" of liquid-based glue. Use a glue stick, or better a stapler, to draw up advance reports. And never hold your checks under pressure.

Father of forensic photography

The founder of the method for restoring extinct texts is the Russian scientist Yevgeny Burinsky. He was the first to use this method to restore 13th century inscriptions on pieces of leather found during excavations in the Moscow Kremlin.

Using photographic plates for work, Burinsky made several identical black and white negatives from each document. Then, by removing the emulsion layers from the negatives and stacking them one on top of the other, he obtained a more contrasting negative image. Then I got a kind of slides from each negative and superimposed them on top of each other. Consistently increasing the contrast of the negatives, Burinsky obtained photographs in which invisible and half-erased letters became available for reading. The Russian Academy of Sciences in 1898 awarded Burinsky the Lomonosov Prize "For a research method equal to the value of a microscope."

Faded cashier's check. Finding a replacement

Over time, the ink on cash register receipts fades, and the text almost completely fades. This is partly due to the storage conditions of the document, the quality of thermal paper plays an important role. If you have not made a photocopy of the check in advance, expenses will remain without supporting documents, and this may threaten additional taxes. So, you need to restore a check or text.

First of all, you should contact the seller. Some POS printer models print duplicate receipts. The check will be with the same date and details as on the faded check.

Our help. You should not contact the craftsmen who, using special programs, will make a copy of the receipt according to the specified parameters. After all, this will be nothing more than a falsification of documents, which threatens with criminal sanctions (Article 327 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Despite the fact that you have faded sources, you present a knowingly forged document to the inspectors. Not even a copy, but a fake.

If a duplicate cannot be obtained, a reconciliation must be carried out with the seller. The act will become additional evidence, it will confirm the operation and the amount. But all this can be done with wholesalers, the usual retail store he will not present such documents to you. In addition, do not forget that in addition to a check, wholesalers also often issue a receipt for an incoming cash order (PKO). The inspectors will almost certainly not like the absence of a cash register receipt (Letter of the Ministry of Finance of Russia dated February 21, 2008 N 03-11-05 / 40). But the judges believe that cashier's check is not the only document that can confirm the costs of a businessman. A spine from a parishioner may well replace a cashier's check (Resolution of the Federal Antimonopoly Service of the Volga District of August 9, 2010 in case No.

Retail purchases, as a rule, are accompanied not only by the issuance of a cashier's receipt, but also by the issuance of a sales receipt (written by hand, printed on a printer, or all on the same cash register). If the sales receipt is available, drawn up in accordance with all the rules, the information on it has not faded, then consider that the expenses are confirmed. Inspectors, of course, can find fault, but in a legal dispute, a sales receipt will become a weighty argument.

Sometimes sellers print a sales receipt on thermal paper, like a cash register, that is, it can also fade. And when buying gasoline, a sales receipt is not issued at all. Unfortunately, in such cases, it will not be possible to obtain any additional evidence to support the costs of a faded sales receipt. Here there remains the hope that the faded text will be enough for the inspectors, and the necessary numbers on the check can still be seen. But in case of a possible dispute, the merchant still has the opportunity to try to restore the lost text with the help of an examination. This pleasure is expensive, so merchants prefer not to contact specialists until the verdict of the controllers. And if it came to court, then apply for an expert examination. The amount necessary for the examination is paid to the deposit account by the party that insists on this (in this case it will be a merchant). If the initiative comes from both sides, the costs are divided equally.

Is it possible to get a deduction if the check is faded or lost

The examination, appointed on the initiative of the arbitration court, is carried out at the expense of the federal budget, therefore, in practice, judges rarely show initiative. As a result, the cost of the examination will be reimbursed by the party who will not benefit from the results. If the claim is partially satisfied, then the legal costs are divided between the parties to the dispute in proportion to the amount of the satisfied claims. And since the check is real, the examination will confirm the authenticity of the document, the court will oblige the inspection to reimburse the costs.

But to avoid such situations, make photocopies of cashier's receipts, especially for high-value purchases. Documents with significant amounts have always attracted the attention of controllers. And photocopies of cash register receipts and sales receipts made to save the information reflected on them, certified by the signature of the entrepreneur, are sufficient primary documents confirming the actual implementation of the acquisition costs for cash settlement of goods (Letter of the Federal Tax Service of Russia in Moscow dated April 12, 2006 N 20-12 / 29007).

I have such a problem: I am saving up checks for another discount card in Fashionista, but after six months they completely discolor, the text is no longer visible, so the process dragged on. I store it in a drawer, there is no direct light hit (or the loss of color does not depend on this?). Can anyone know how you can protect cashier receipts from discoloration?

These are thermal checks, do not put next to heat sources. Put it in a book and that's it, the main thing is to find it later.

20.11.2009, 20:06

I have the same problem - I kept it in my wallet - and almost nothing is visible after 3 months ((and some checks are like new ...

There is no heat source nearby, the battery is more than a meter away. Can she influence at such a distance?

Then take a sales receipt for everything you buy.

They took all the checks from me at Fashionista. Some were very, very hard to see. They do not fade to zero at all.

20.11.2009, 22:30

I had a scan of Veronica's check for 29 thousand and a faded check. They didn't take it to the tax office.
All checks fade.
About tax: there is a letter from the Ministry of Finance, where this issue is clarified.
I'm not at work, so I can't give the number.
The bottom line is that a copy of the check certified by the gene is enough to confirm the costs. director, seal of the organization and the corresponding order.

Make copies.

I am also a fan of Fashionista. I keep receipts in an opaque envelope in the refrigerator. They are thermo - any heat is not good for them, even room temperature.

cool, receipts in the fridge ично logical, but still cool! Here the husband will be surprised when, instead of dumplings, he finds a check for these dumplings in the freezer! 🙂

21.11.2009, 01:55

The same bullshit, I can't collect everything, sometimes they deteriorate, sometimes they are lost

by the way, the moment of fading is also very annoying for me ... it is not clear why this should be my problem ... On a subject, yes, scan, copy.

For some reason, some of my checks fade, and some do not. I keep some of them for years. But at work, all receipts were always copied through a photocopier.

21.11.2009, 03:23

here I am about the same why should this be my problem?: 009: and okay, even if for a discount (although of course it is also very insulting), but I recently looked that I had most of the receipts for equipment faded, and according to them guarantee ... That's what you will do if something happens, but do not store them in the refrigerator for a couple of three years: 001:

check for warranty repair not needed. a correctly completed warranty card is required.
now, even to return a thing to the store, a check is not needed 🙂 I don’t remember where the link to the document is, I’ll look later.

I have faded only checks from a fashionista.
it is also unclear why my problem should be the safety of checks?
the money I give them is not fading, right :)?

: 004 :: 004: cool, receipts in the fridge 🙂 logical, but cool anyway! Here the husband will be surprised when, instead of dumplings, he finds a check for these dumplings in the freezer! 🙂

Poor husband, instead of meat he is fed with DUMPLINGS: 004:

take a sales receipt

23.11.2009, 01:26

Cheerful Temka ... I also wanted to change the discount card for a higher percentage, I put the checks in a separate wallet, in the dark, not near the heating appliances, I got them to count ... and half of it is not readable: (During the surprise: 015: Scans, copies, sales receipts ... so my head is full of thoughts to hammer my head with this nonsense. ”I read the topic and now I’ll confidently go to change the card, let my eyes break too… :)

Hi everyone!
I also had this situation. I found very good way!
I just put a lightly, gently check with the back side to the incandescent light bulb (WITH THEM) and everything is beautifully manifested !!! True, the check acquires a slightly brownish tint, but on the other hand, everything is clearly visible. And in the store, everyone perfectly accepts both claims and returns! Or, indeed, make a copy, and then, if necessary, attach to the lamp.
GET TIP! GOOD LUCK!!!

Wow !: flower:

Super advice! Thank you!

In Fashionista, checks are no longer accepted. This is by the way. And then you never know who collects, and then come, upset. I just don't know any more places where I still need to collect checks.

Make copies of them or scan them.
+1
They were in my book, they also discolored.

and I pay for my studies and also nothing is visible (((.
Marina Aleksandrova, thanks for the advice!

I recently (before NG) needed to provide a copy of the check. payment for studies. Translated in April: ded: through the terminal in the SB.
It has already faded, it is impossible to make a copy.
I didn't know a way with a lamp, with great torment, a magnifying glass and a tambourine, I saw the transaction number, made a copy, but it is already the same.

By the way, to make a copy is to take a picture. But it was before business, at work someone tried to scan a fax - and it is also on thermal paper: 073.

1. I think the trouble is familiar firsthand. You bought something big. The seller generously measured out five, ten, or even twenty years of warranty ... And? Take the check in a year and fade. We do not read.

Vaughn, on Habré, experiments were performed:
"25 years warranty. Cool, isn't it? There is one problem. We need to keep the receipt. Check, again, for knowledge of physics. The receipt is printed on a regular cash register thermal tape (I checked it on the spot). I have a lot of receipts in my office. We we will photocopy them, because in a year or two they completely fade. "

The law says:

"The retail sale and purchase agreement is considered to be concluded in the proper form from the moment the seller issues to the buyer a cash or sales receipt or other document confirming payment for the goods." (Article 493 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation).

"The lack of the buyer these documents(including the check) does not deprive him of the opportunity to refer to the testimony in confirmation of the conclusion of the contract and its conditions. "(ibid.)

"Sales receipts and invoices presented by VAA for the review of the judicial board are not readable, therefore, cannot be considered as evidence in confirmation of the costs incurred by him in the execution of the above contract." (Appellate ruling The Supreme Court Of the Republic of Bashkortostan dated 05.06.2013 in case N 33-5311 / 2013)

And then the lawsuit is wrapped up at the filing stage:

"By the definition ..., she (the Claimant) was asked to eliminate the shortcomings indicated in the definition by May 07, 2015, namely: to submit documents confirming the fulfillment of obligations in terms of payment under the mobile phone retail purchase and sale agreement.

In addition, the court indicated that no documents were submitted confirming the circumstances on which the plaintiff bases his claims, copies of these documents for the persons participating in the case, photocopies of documents attached to the application are not properly certified, the originals of the attached documents are missing (Article 71 of the Code of Civil Procedure RF). Cashier's check for the amount<.......>we do not read rubles.

P.'s application to OJSC VimpelCom on termination of the purchase and sale agreement, recovery of the cost of a mobile phone, forfeit, fine, compensation for moral damage - return to applicant "... (Determination of the Tyumen Regional Court of 10.06.2015 in case N 33-3308 / 2015)

2. It's good if you still have evidence other than the check. Usually, for expensive things there are always other documents - DKT (purchase and sale agreement), the act of transferring the goods to you, delivery / installation documents, a mark in the warranty card, etc. Then it's easier, the check no longer has such an important meaning.

3. Alas, there are times when you only have a check on hand. A textbook example is the payment of a loan through an ATM. IN recent times some banks only accept such payment. Until a live operator, or three days in the forest, or there is a "barrage" commission for payment in cash to the cashier.

4. What to do and what is it all for. Previously, notaries on the basis of Art. 77 and 78 "Fundamentals of legislation Russian Federation on the notary "(as amended on 07/13/2015) refused to make notarized copies of checks.

And also some other documents - for example, a copy from the original of the contract for the sale of a motorcycle concluded by two "physicists". I personally came across. Four notaries refused to certify.

However, since February 1, 2014, the rules have changed. Art. Fundamentals 77 have been heavily rewritten. And Art. 78 and completely expelled to hell. And now the notary will absolutely calmly certify the copies of the checks to you - if there is a readable original. So here's a good remedy for fading checks - a notarized copy.

Notes (edit):

1. You can't keep track of everything. And I learned about this trick quite by accident from a notary ... in a corporate war. What kind of beast is this - maybe I'll tell you somehow.

2. Life is easier for Yuriks even without changing the basics. There is a letter from the Ministry of Finance:

"At the same time, given that in practice situations arise when, as a result of storage, the mastic of a cash register receipt fades and the information reflected on it becomes invisible,
we consider it possible to confirm, for the purposes of taxation of profits, the actually incurred expenses for the acquisition of goods (works, services) for cash by photocopies of the receipts of the cash register certified by the signature official and the seal of the organization with the original receipt attached. "(Letter of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation of 03.04.2007 N 03-03-06 / 1/209)

And there is some arbitrage practice in favor of lawyers:

"The fact that over the course of time the checks have faded and become unreadable has no legal significance, since the taxpayer is obliged to confirm the expenses, who must properly organize the storage of accounting documents."

(Resolution of the Seventh Arbitration Court of Appeal dated March 18, 2013 in case No. A67-2842 / 2012. Something similar in the Resolution of the Nineteenth Arbitration Court of Appeal dated December 28, 2012 in case No. A35-5357 / 2012)
