Excursion titanic afimall. Titanic: Exhibition at Afimoll. What was this ship

Briefly:
the exhibition will delight romantics, people interested in history and families with children.
for those for whom the ticket price of 700-900 rubles seems exorbitant, it is better not to come.
on my own behalf, I will say that the cost of tickets to Moscow museums is most often subsidized, for example, 20-50 rubles for pensioners. There are cities in Europe where the main museums are completely free, and where the cost is from 10 to 30 euros (or higher). but all the same, I think that the cost should have been lower, since a trip to a family plus souvenirs would be expensive!
also, you should not take a ticket of a real passenger for those who are afraid of causing trouble.

and now, as usual, the details:
Pros:
the exposition is located in Afimola - which is very good, if you don't want to go to the exhibition with friends, sit in a cafe, go shopping ...
the exhibition covers all stages of the life of the Titanic, from the moment the giant was built to the arrival of the survivors ashore. That makes it possible, as it were, to live the life of a real person, whose card with a ticket you pull out at the entrance.
All the way, reading the bulletin boards and looking at the windows, you think about this person, how his life turned out - did he manage to be saved, or did he save someone by sacrificing himself.
They say that people are alive as long as they are remembered. Such an exhibition temporarily resurrects long-gone people, reminding the living of how fleeting life is, that the poor and the rich are equal in disasters, and that sometimes in the most hopeless situation, you can find a way out.

The exhibition provides an opportunity to study the ship from the inside, and also destroys some myths: for example, the third class cabin was a great discovery for me. Since childhood, I thought it was something small and scary. As it turned out, the cabin was quite comfortable.
Showcases with dishes give an idea of how the Titanic was equipped (some consider it a minus that either replicas or things from other, identical ships are presented, but sorry, no one can lift things from the legendary ship, alas, because of the depth)

You can photograph anything and everything - however, in some halls there are difficulties with light, and it is necessary to wait for the moment when there will not be many people. Although when I was in the museum, all visitors were very polite to each other, as everyone wanted to take a good photo without hands-feet in the background.
also photos on the bow of the ship and on the famous stairs - paid.

In a separate hall, lists of passengers and crews are presented, those who survived a terrible night, and who remained forever in icy waters - along the way, photographs and descriptions of prominent passengers of the liner are posted on the walls, which makes it possible to form an impression of the owl about the passengers: for example, ladies' man and playboy, traveling with his mistress, remained on the ship, and the other representative of the strong half jumped into the first boat, not washing away that women and children were on board.
For me personally, the trip to the Titanic was also an impetus for thought, and what would I do if I was on board - I would jump into the boat, shove everyone, try to help at least someone, and once in the boat, I would support the call to return, to pick up the still alive, or shouted that the swimmers would drown us. In addition, it is a living reminder to know where the emergency exits are on the train or plane, follow the instructions of the guides, and generally follow safety rules.

The organizers of the exhibition deserve special thanks for the coverage of the work of the Russian MIR devices and our contribution to the study of the remains of the ship.

Minuses:
I think the cost of tickets for a family is too high - after all, 900 rubles is expensive. Although I understand that the cost of bringing in, installing and maintaining the exhibition is expensive. Plus security and staff.
but it was better to lower the psychological bar to 500 rubles on weekdays.
at the entrance they immediately offer to shoot on the bow of the ship (if I'm not mistaken, the cost of a photo is 400 rubles, only local photographers can take a photo, which causes not very good feelings in my soul - and then they decided to get profit.

translation of the English text on the plate - here no comments - I have not seen such blunders for a long time. Translate the saucer like a gravy boat ... really, it was impossible to find a normal translator for such a large project.

in some halls how bad it is with the light that it is impossible to read at all.

I read in the reviews that guides work at the exhibition - alas, I have not seen information about them anywhere. I would have known - I would have taken it.

the prices in the souvenir shop at the end were unpleasantly struck - I personally bought two magnets for 200 rubles each as a souvenir. I liked the paperweight, but 800 rubles and the toad strangled ...
If a family came, and each of its members wanted something to remember, the cost of a visit can be very decent
4 adults, 900 rubles each
plus two photos (nose and stairs) - 2 x 400
plus 2 cups of 500 each (if I'm not mistaken), a magnet for 200, a T-shirt - more than a thousand and a book about a ship for almost 2 thousand,
Sunday hike will cost a very round sum ...

I think I will go to the exhibition again - in May, when I will not need to carry a jacket with me. that the wardrobe is on the second floor, you will find out only when you go up to the sixth.

by the way, my heroine survived, but her fiancé and father of the unborn baby died.
It is a pity that the lists did not indicate how this child's life turned out. But somehow I have confidence that he grew up to be a wonderful person

“The exhibition is a sensation! "Titanic": find yourself on the legendary ship! " This is how the organizers of the event attracted the interested audience to their project. Finding yourself on the Titanic is, no doubt, interesting. But the main thing is that it is now absolutely safe. So crowds of people flocked to Afimall City: the Titanic exhibition left no one indifferent.

What was this ship

The Titanic is a tragically famous cruise ship. At the time of its launching, and it happened in 1911, it was the largest passenger ship in the world.

First class tickets for this ship cost between $ 1,100 and $ 49,000 (based on the 2013 exchange rate). The passengers were provided with restaurants, tennis courts, smoking rooms, dance floors, and squash halls. One of the most expensive cabins was adjoined by a private deck 12 meters long. The decoration of the decks, halls and rooms of the first class on the Titanic shone with gilding, velvet and precious woods. The cabins of the second and third classes were furnished much more modestly, and the cost of tickets was approximately 600 and 200 dollars (in terms of, of course), respectively.

Before launching, the Titanic was called "unsinkable" by the press. Unfortunately, the media turned out to be wrong.

Single flight

On April 10, 1912, the Titanic left the port of Southampton for a transatlantic voyage. The ship was on the way for four days. On the night of April 14-15, 1912, the ship collided with an iceberg. After 2 hours and 40 minutes after that, the Titanic sank. This tragedy claimed the lives of 1,495 people.

The catastrophe that occurred in 1912 with the "Titanic" can hardly be considered the worst ever. For comparison: the German ship "Goya" sank in April 1945. It was torpedoed from a submarine belonging to the Soviet army. Then about seven thousand people died. If we take into account only the catastrophes that occurred in peacetime, the death of the passenger ferry "Donja Paz" in 1987 can be considered the largest and most tragic one. The ship collided with an oil tanker. The number of victims of this tragedy is 4375 people.

Exhibition "Titanic" in "Afimoll"

The public's interest in the history of this shipwreck was formed, probably, thanks to the film of the same name by James Cameron. Be that as it may, a large number of visitors were gathered by the Titanic exhibition held in Moscow. Afimall (photos of the entertainment complex at the time of the event are presented in our material) is well known to the metropolitan public, and this event was another reason to visit it.

The event was organized by Russian organizers with the assistance of their American colleagues. The original exhibition is on display at the Franklin Institute in the United States. The concept of the Moscow event did not differ much from the original one. So how was it?

Exhibition "Titanic" ("Afimall"): dates

Some readers will still have to upset: the event has already ended. It took place from February 14, 2014 to February 15 of this year. In principle, probably during this year, most of those interested in the history of the "Titanic" still managed to inspect all the original artifacts and "visit" the ship. But the organizers of the event noted that when it became known that the exhibition "Titanic" ("Afimall") would last until February 15, 2015 inclusive, many visitors decided not to miss the last chance. And the final day of this large-scale event was marked by a real full house.

Exhibition concept

As mentioned above, every visitor to Afimolla had the opportunity to find himself on the legendary ship, walk along its decks, look into the cabins and survive the wreck without fear for their lives. Yes, the iceberg was also present at this exhibition.

Interestingly, the exhibits were 342 items that previously actually belonged to the passengers of the Titanic. The story could be touched.

About roles and destinies

At the entrance, each visitor to the exhibition received a ticket. But not just a piece of paper with the name of the event, time and cost of the visit indicated on it. Each ticket bore the name of the Titanic's passenger, and described some of the events that had happened to this person on the ship. In fact, every visitor to the event in Afimoll could live the fate of another - the passenger of the legendary liner who died or, on the contrary, escaped a hundred years ago.

What did the story of the person look like on such a ticket? First, the name, age and occupation were indicated. Secondly, his story related to the "Titanic", printed in English and Russian. For example, a ticket in the name of Rosa Amelia Icard contained the following information. “Age: 38 years old. housemaid. Amelia was the maid of Martha Stone, wife of the president of the Cincinnati Bell Telephone Company. It is known that during the trip on the Titanic, Amelia often complained about shortcomings in the service and behavior of the staff. " By the way, such complaints and remarks from the mouth of the maid become quite understandable, given that this woman traveled with her mistress and first-class companion.

After issuing a ticket, the guests of the exhibition went further and got acquainted with the exhibits and the reconstruction of the wreck.

Exposition description

Walking through the cabins, halls and decks reconstructed for the exhibition, each visitor could get acquainted with the structure and technical equipment of the ship, as well as learn how the life and pastime of passengers was organized. So, you could walk around the restaurant and see the exquisite table setting for first class travelers. It was also possible to go up to the deck, which overlooks the ocean and the endless starry sky. There was also a quiet breath of the night breeze.

In addition, the guests of the exhibition had the opportunity to compare the arrangement of the cabins of the first, second and third classes. The luxury of expensive apartments amazed with gilding, velvet and prosperity shining from everywhere. Passengers of the second class lived in cabins that vaguely resemble the decoration of modern hotel rooms: nothing superfluous, impersonal furniture and the same decoration of the premises. The third class was housed in cabins below the waterline. There were bunk beds here, and the noise of the water and the grinding of ice did not subside for a minute. At the same time, tickets to third-class cabins were paid for the cost equivalent to two average monthly salaries of an ordinary American worker.

The next hall of the exhibition is a reconstruction of the wreck. The tragedy is painted every minute, so each visitor had the opportunity to put himself in the place of a person traveling on a ship, to relive his fate.

The exhibition was rounded off by a hall with an “underwater” exposition, representing in all its grandeur, and a small room dedicated to the film by James Cameron.

An interesting feature of the exhibition - it was possible to learn about the fate of the passenger, whose name was indicated on the ticket, in the last hall. There were stands with lists of people who survived and perished. Without a doubt, many viewers found it very interesting. Now let's move on to reviews about the event.

Exhibition "Titanic" ("Afimall"): reviews

How did Muscovites and guests of the capital assess this event?

The reviews were mostly positive. This is not surprising, as the reconstruction of the exterior, interiors of the ship and its wreck was very convincing. At the same time, one cannot but pay attention to the fact that many of the exhibits were genuine, and this only fueled the public's interest in the event.

In addition, many visitors noted the idea of tickets and the experience of the fate of a real passenger on the Titanic as a positive aspect of the exhibition. Searching for your hero in the lists of those who survived or died, according to the guests of Afimoll, was also very exciting.

But there were also some negative moments that were remembered by the visitors to the Titanic exhibition. So, the main staircase of the ship, so brightly and beautifully shown in the film of the same name, turned out to be very small, and there was no way to climb it. Some visitors also noted that the atmosphere of the adventure ended immediately after the tickets were issued, and then the viewer remained, according to his feelings, not a participant in the events, but just an outside observer.

Be that as it may, the event was over, and, according to the assurances of the organizers and most of the guests, it was a success. Many will remember for a long time what this event was like - the exhibition "Titanic" ("Afimall"). At the same time, photographs from the exhibition will remind guests of their experiences and impressions for a long time.

The tragic history of the transatlantic steamer "Titanic" is known all over the world. More than a hundred years ago, the liner embarked on its first and last voyage. The Titanic Museum in Moscow is a tribute to the memory of everyone who was on board the ship that day.

A bit of history

The steamer triumphantly left a shipyard in England after three years of construction. Unfortunately, fate decreed that the Titanic's sea voyage was cut short four days after going to sea. The tragic event was caused by the collision of the liner with a giant iceberg, which cut the Titanic's side to its full length.

The name "Unsinkable" did not help the ship, which rapidly filled with water and soon sank, breaking in half. Everything happened so quickly that few of the passengers managed to escape.

The death of the liner is still one of the disasters that claimed the maximum number of human lives. This is what the exhibition tells about. The Titanic has gone down in history forever.

Luxury

The liner could boast not only of its impressive size, but also of its interior decoration and luxurious interior. For the decoration of the first class cabins, the following were used:

  • Gold.
  • Crystal.
  • Natural wool carpets.
  • A tree of valuable species.

Exhibition-reconstruction

Currently, residents of the capital and guests of the city can visit the exhibition-reconstruction and see the interior of the legendary ship, recreated in the smallest detail. More than three hundred original objects that were once on board the ship and now raised from the Titanic exhibition are presented like a time machine: each visitor seems to plunge into the events of a century ago, vividly imagining the time of that era.

Where can I find the Moscow Titanic exhibition?

The project is deployed on the sixth floor of the Afimall City shopping and entertainment complex, located not far from Vystavochnaya metro station. Tickets are sold on the floor below and are available to everyone: there are no age restrictions. The demo is titled "Immersion in History" and is designed to combine entertainment and educational components. It must be admitted that the organizers of the event succeeded. Many were amazed and pleased by the Titanic exhibition. Reviews about her are mostly positive.

Visitors, as it were, are transported into the past, on board the ship, and have a unique opportunity to experience tragic events recreated in the smallest detail without endangering themselves. The entire time interval has been reconstructed, starting from the start of the voyage to the fatal impact on an iceberg in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

Experienced guides are ready to tell you about every detail of the interior, answer any questions from guests. The Titanic Museum in Moscow will appeal to everyone who has watched the film of the same name dozens of times.

Tour of the exhibition

The demonstration begins with a visit to the upper deck. Walking along it, you can see with your own eyes all the splendor of the legendary ship. Light pitching and freshness of the ocean breeze are qualitatively imitated. It is quite cool on deck, which corresponds to the climatic conditions of April 1912. Many stands detailing the history of the ship's construction. The exposition will appeal to everyone who regularly visits museums and

Each visitor can see live the original exhibits from the sunken ship, raised from the seabed. Original things allow you to feel more closely the realism of what is happening and mentally relive the tragedy of the passengers of the ill-fated ship.

All other recreated items are exactly the same as their originals. Dishes of the early 20th century are displayed in the ship's kitchen; wall and ceiling lamps are fully consistent with those installed on the Titanic. Soft carpets rustle underfoot.

The original clothing of the passengers is presented, including the working uniform of the ship's crew. On the walls there are photographs of those who sailed on the ship with a brief description of their fate. Sometimes exhibitions in Moscow are held free of charge, for example, at or when another important event is celebrated. For adults, a ticket costs 750 rubles, for children - 450 rubles.

There is an opportunity to visit the engine room: it is as hot and noisy here as on a real ocean steamer. The lighting is dim and the air smells like charcoal and soot.

The entire excursion is accompanied by live classical music performed by professional musicians.

Cabins interior

There is an opportunity to visit passenger cabins of different classes, from the simplest to the luxury ones. The most luxurious accommodations were for first-class passengers: large beds, rich decoration, mirrors, velvet and even a washbasin. Satin lamps and antique paintings on the walls. The floor is luxurious, soft and beautiful ornamentation. A chest of drawers with original carved legs can be seen against the wall. The second class rode simpler people, their cabins were less spacious, the interior was simpler.

Passengers of the third class were content with meager furnishings and were in relative cramped: there were four berths per cabin (a pair of bunk beds). The walls were painted with plain white paint. Musty and dampness is clearly felt here. The third class cabins were located on the lowest tier, closest to the water.

Passengers were divided according to gender: there were separate male and female rooms, as a result of which many families were separated, which made it difficult for many to try to escape. People ran in panic along the corridors, breaking down doors, trying to find their relatives.

"Titanic" is the brightest exhibition of the All-Russian Exhibition Center (Moscow). The organizers assumed that there would be a sensation, but did not think that to such an extent.

Halls

After inspecting the cabins, visitors find themselves in front of the Titanic's main staircase. The marble steps are striking in their splendor, and the wrought iron railings are a real luxury, the exhibition "Titanic" became famous. Reviews pay particular attention to the interior, which delights and amazes with its wealth. Luxurious finishes leave no one indifferent.

A separate hall is dedicated to crockery, cutlery and various household items of passengers. The other is a ship's restaurant with plenty of tables and nice furnishings. Here guests are served by courteous waiters, dressed exactly in the uniform of the time.

In a separate room, photographs are displayed that clearly show the current state of the ship's wreckage. Underwater photographs taken with professional equipment show severe metal damage from rust and salt water. According to experts, in half a century there will be no trace of the Titanic.

If you are looking for interesting exhibitions in Moscow, then pay attention to this one.

The final part of the excursion

The action ends with an imitation of a meeting with an iceberg. The model of the ice block is impressive in size and feels very cold to the touch, as it should be. If you put your hand to its surface, an imprint remains. Nearby is the steering wheel, with which you can take a picture, feeling like a helmsman. Above your head - a high-quality imitation of the night starry sky. The video screen shows footage of the ill-fated crash that cost so many lives.

Those who visited the exhibition cannot hide their emotions and feelings from what they saw. The realism of what is happening is so mesmerizing that the viewer involuntarily becomes a participant in those events. And although from the outside it may seem that the exhibition is rather gloomy and depressing, in reality it is not. You can safely attend the demonstration with the whole family, including children. In fact, the reconstruction is very interesting and informative, without an ominous connotation.

Unlike the usual museum excursions, which are a set of exhibits with signatures to them, this exhibition is completely interactive, it actively involves the viewer in what is happening. There are a lot of videos about the history of the legendary liner. If you prefer to visit exhibitions in Moscow for free, then we will immediately notice that this exhibition is not like that.

Working hours

The Titanic Museum in Moscow is open daily from 10:00 to 20:00. The price of tickets depends on various factors and varies, as we have already mentioned, from 450 to 750 rubles. Children and discount tickets are cheaper. Another way to save some money is to visit the exhibition as part of a group tour. Students can also expect a discount.

The above amounts are valid from Monday to Friday, and on weekends and non-working days an additional surcharge is made from 100 to 300 rubles. To receive discount tickets, you must bring supporting documents with you.

New museums and exhibitions in Moscow are always striking in their originality. For maximum immersion in the atmosphere of a century ago and realism of what is happening on each ticket, the name of one of the passengers of the Titanic is indicated.

At the end of the excursion, you can ask how the fate of the passenger was: whether he managed to survive. Little things like that allow you to emotionally feel the full force of the tragedy. By and large, the exhibition is dedicated not so much to the ship itself as to the tragic fate of its passengers and crew members.

All visitors have the opportunity to capture unique shots with a camera or video camera.

There is a souvenir shop at the exhibition, where you can buy copies of original items as a souvenir. The Titanic Museum in Moscow is worth visiting for all residents and guests of the capital.

How to get there

The exhibition is located quite conveniently: you can get to the shopping center both by metro and by ground transport, including by car. The Titanic Museum in Moscow has the following address: Presnenskaya embankment, building 2.

In the mall itself there are information screens, thanks to which you can understand how to quickly get to the exhibition. On the second floor there is a cloakroom where you can drop off your outerwear.

The MoscowCity business center hosts the Titanic: How It Was. Immersion in history. ”Visitors will be able to instantly travel back in time, more than 100 years ago, and be aboard the infamous ship, the most famous in human history.

Here, the details of the interior of the luxurious cabins have been recreated with particular accuracy, there are original items found at the bottom at the crash site, the appearance and life of the crew and passengers have been reproduced. There is even the same iceberg, the collision with which was so deplorable for everyone.

All visitors can vividly imagine themselves as passengers of the Titanic (of course, it is safe for health and life!). Each of those present has a unique opportunity to relive the events of the entire journey, from boarding in the port of Southampton to the fateful meeting with the ice hulk in the Atlantic Ocean.

The exhibition was previously held in many countries, tens of millions of people visited it. The tragic death of the Titanic leaves few people indifferent. This ship has become a symbol of sybarism, luxury, carefree life, which in a matter of minutes turned into dust and nothingness.
