Nikon 610 photos from him. Nikon D610 - full frame for everyone. What cannot be configured

Many people dream of a high-quality full-format camera for not too much money. And Nikon went to meet the buyers and offers the D610 model with an FX matrix. Rather, this is not an improvement on its predecessor Nikon D600, but a fix, because the previous camera is also gorgeous.

What have changed

For the most part, the camera completely repeats its predecessor. But! The shutter has been improved, it has become a bit faster (6 frames per second), an overall improvement in ergonomics and individual elements. As the engineers themselves say, the most important fix is getting rid of the shutter grease stains on the matrix, which the D600 model often sinned with.

Camera hardware

The autofocus module is almost identical to that of the Nikon D7100. However, due to the size of the matrix, it sometimes feels like all the points are located in the center.

Fast autofocus, allows excellent focusing even in moderate light. True, you can't shoot sports games due to the limited size of the focusing area.

But in complete darkness, autofocus begins to fade, and it needs to be backlit. A flash can do this. It is built-in here, of good quality. This is great in the case when you need to go on vacation, and it is inconvenient to carry additional equipment: several lenses will increase the weight of the bags anyway, and an external flash will add additional grams. Especially critical for flights.

But there is one unpleasant moment. After creating a frame with a flash, it takes 3-4 seconds to recharge. At the same time, it is absolutely impossible to photograph. You just have to wait.

Nikon D610 Features

The Nikon D610 camera has very flexible and convenient settings. Two wheels allow you to quickly set the desired parameters, and two special modes U1 and U2 allow you to save two combinations of all parameters for later quick recall. There are the usual, for cameras of this level, PASM modes (program, aperture priority, shutter speed, manual). There are also "Auto" and "Scene" modes, which are practically unnecessary in a camera of this level. Except for beginners.

There is an excellent HDR (high dynamic range) mode. In it, the camera takes 2 pictures with different exposures and merges them into one, keeping the lightest and darkest areas of the picture. The built-in gyroscope keeps the horizon clear when shooting landscapes. There is a LiveView mode for displaying a picture on the screen, and not through the viewfinder.

There are 2 SD slots for memory cards. When buying cards, you should consider not only the class, but also the bandwidth. It is desirable that they have the inscription UHS (Ultra High Speed). The volume will need to be taken more, at least by 32 gigabytes, since the resolution of the matrix is 24 megapixels and the pictures will be very large.

You can configure either parallel filling of both cards, or sequential. It is advisable to adjust this moment immediately and not change, since sometimes non-removable photos may appear, or vice versa - an important frame will be in oblivion.

The device perfectly sets automatic parameters, and if you need to quickly take a picture, it will adequately assess the lighting and set the appropriate settings. At the same time, no one forbids exhibiting them yourself.

The Nikon D610 camera is an excellent choice for both beginners and professionals. Ample shooting opportunities, a large number of settings, high-quality materials - all this is in the Nikon D610 Body camera.

A soldier who does not dream of becoming a general is bad. This truth was spelled out many years ago and does not lose its relevance now. But among photographers there is a slightly different expression: “It is impossible not to want a full frame”. But at the same time, the cost of a full-frame did not allow every second person to buy such a carcass. In the camp of both Canon and Nikon, such cameras were intended for more professional use or for advanced enthusiasts, while it should be borne in mind that professional tools simply cannot be cheap.

It's scary to imagine how much time is spent in the world in total dreaming about a 36x24 frame.

There were terrible legends about the full shot. It was rumored that those who take such a camera in their hands will simply not be able to shoot with anything else, that there is a Masterpiece button, and every third photo taken on a full frame will be bought and printed by such magazines as National Geographics, Playboy and Esquire. Many even just went to stores and held such carcasses in their hands in order to feel the holy spirit of real creativity.

But now photo makers are breaking boundaries and starting to release cameras that you will not only want, but can also afford. And one of them is Nikon D610.

Nikon D610 video review:

Design and ergonomics

Outwardly, the device most of all resembles the Nikon D600. The same controls, the same ports. Go to and see his review.

I was too lazy to describe all this, but the evil editor-in-chief said: “Work!”. So you have to work.

The base of the body is a magnesium alloy that protects the camera from external negative influences. A small amount of plastic is still present and can be seen on the front of the device. But at the same time, the solidity did not suffer in any way - the carcass feels strong. It has dust and moisture protection, while the level is inferior, of course, to the master D4, but you can shoot in light rain or snow without worrying. Even in ten-degree frost, all functions worked adequately for me, however, for this you need to prepare the camera like this,.

The body fits into the hand like a glove, does not slip and does not strive to fall out. On the front edge there is a battery grip with a functional wheel for a more comfortable grip and control, already the canonical red stripe, two functional buttons. One has the function of changing the aspect ratio - switching between FX and DX. This is very convenient when you need to get closer to the subject, but the zoom is not enough. Or for a more convenient compositional frame construction. On the second, I personally put a diaphragm repeater in order to quickly and conveniently assess the depth of field.

In the center there is a metal mount, and on the other side there is a lens release button, a lever for switching between automatic and manual focusing and a button for changing AF modes. Above, on the protruding prism unit, are the bracketing and built-in flash open keys. This is undoubtedly a plus, because all models of this class usually do not have a flash. Manufacturers believe that people using such a camera will use external light sources. This is partly true, but sometimes the built-in puff saves.

On the left side panel, under the rubber caps, there are connectors for connecting external accessories - Mini USB, HDMI, a port for a GPS module, a remote control. There are also connectors for an external microphone and headphones, so it's much easier to control the quality of sound recording.

On the right side, there are still two SD card slots under the plastic cover. This solution will allow you to use twice as much memory and forget about the worries about the lack of space.

The bottom edge is occupied by the battery compartment and the tripod socket.

At the top, everything is familiar. On the left, there are two wheels for switching modes, which are locked by buttons to protect against accidental rotation, while the lower one is responsible for choosing the shooting speed, mirror pre-lift, quiet mode, and the upper one for selecting PASM, custom saved modes and auto.

On the right is a monochrome display for displaying information, a shutter button with a three-position on / off / backlight lever, video recording, exposure compensation and focus area selection keys. It is worth noting that to control the functions, you need to not only press them, but also hold them while turning the wheel.

Centered above the mount is a hot shoe and a hidden built-in flash.

The back edge is given over to a non-rotatable 3.2-inch VGA-display. Viewing angles and color rendition cause genuine delight and desire to view pictures right on the spot.

To the left of the display are five buttons: menu, color correction, setting information, zoom in and out. Almost all buttons have two functions. For example, setting information can change white balance, and zoom can change image quality and ISO.

To the right of the screen is the info button, Live View mode framed by a video or photo selection lever, a four-way joystick, an OK button, and a focus point lock lever. Above the screen is a viewfinder with a proximity sensor and diopter adjustment, to the left of it - gallery viewing and removal. On the right is AE-L / AF-L and the second mode dial.

What's under the hood

Behind the mirror is a 24 MP sensor measuring 36 x 24 mm. The classic digital narrow film format. The Expeed 3 processor is responsible for correct operation. This is enough to ensure the highest speed of work and forget about any braking or problems with speed.

The sensitivity range is from 100 to 6400 units, and in the extended mode, the interval from ISO 50 to 25600 becomes available. At the same time, the matrix makes little noise - values up to 6400 can be considered working. If you shoot in RAW with subsequent competent development, then 12800 are quite used not only for the web, but also for printing in small sizes. The drop in details and color noise ceases to be conspicuous from a distance of one meter.

For printing from a device in A4 format, oddly enough, almost all values are suitable. Up to 6400 ISO, you can get high quality prints even from Jpeg, but after that you should still switch to RAW. 12800, after proper development, still demonstrates a certain colored noise, but at arm's length, and even more so on the wall, it is difficult to see it. But 25600 is not worth printing even from RAW more than A5. Here you can already see the loss of details on small textures and noise.

The rate of fire of the device is at an altitude of 6 fps in full resolution in RAW. The buffer is enough for a series of 15 frames, then the camera will shoot endlessly at a frame rate of almost 1 fps. With JPEG, you don't have to worry about the buffer - more than 30 frames will be enough 99% of the time. The measurements were taken with a fast memory card (its review). With slower cards, the results may differ for the worse.

There is also a quiet shooting at 3 fps. True, the volume here is an exclusively comparative parameter, but you will obviously become much less attracting attention.

The dynamic range deserves special praise - highlights and shadows are worked out correctly and correctly, but if the need arises, you can safely turn on the expansion D-Lighting or HDR. High Dynamic Range does not work with RAW and even in RAW + JPEG mode. To activate it, you always have to switch to JPEG.

Autofocus

The autofocus system is inherited from the D7000. And I must say that she is cool. These are 39 points, of which 9 are cross. But there is also a minus - the main array is concentrated in the central part of the frame. This means that aiming at the extreme point will be somewhat problematic, as well as at the small one in the center of the frame. For me personally, this was not a problem - I focused, blocked, slightly shifted the camera and got a good result. In general, the automatic focusing system works quite correctly - quickly, tenaciously, accurately.

These should definitely include the function of recording Time Lapse Motion, or time-lapse video, as you please. If earlier, to obtain such an effect, it was necessary to spend a lot of time and effort, now we simply select the necessary item, interval and shooting time in the menu. Click "OK" - and we get the finished video at the output in * .mov format. All the rest is not something supernatural - dynamic range expansion, bracketing. That's all, we saw this in past models.

Video capabilities

They are at their best here. FullHD up to 30 fps, high bit rate, flexible sound settings, microphone and headphone connection. But here, like almost everywhere in Nikon, a minor and annoying bug appears. Well, why the hell am I, buying a carcass for two pieces of bucks, can not change the aperture value when shooting video in Live View? At the same time, there are no problems with this in the older D800. I'm just shocked that the company, which was the first in the world to implement video filming in DSLRs, behaves this way.

Nikon D610 vs. Nikon D600

  • 6 fps versus 5.5 fps;
  • the new model has a quiet continuous shooting;
  • fixed some bugs with color correction and white balance;
  • from now on in new models there are no problems with the shutter / mirror unit and there are no oil spots on the matrix. And in the predecessor, this was sometimes encountered.

Good

  • excellent low-noise sensor;
  • wide dynamic range in standard mode;
  • bright and rich display;
  • a good level of video quality;
  • variety of ports;
  • dust and moisture protection;
  • adequate performance at low temperatures;
  • fast and tenacious focusing;
  • viewfinder with 100% frame field coverage;
  • the presence of time-lapse shooting;
  • many functions for correcting lens defects;
  • slot for two SD memory cards.

Badly

  • minimum shutter speed 1/4000;
  • crowding of points in the central part of the frame;
  • INABILITY TO CHANGE AIRPHRAGM IN Live View MODE;
  • not the fastest autofocus in live sighting mode;
  • the absence of a histogram on the display when sighting by means of the display.

What glass to take

It should be said that in order to reveal the full potential of the matrix installed inside the carcass, it is worth planning the purchase of good and bright optics. At the same time, in conditions of limited finances, you can easily get by with fixes - for example, Nikkor AF-S 50mm F1.8G.

In full frame conditions, this will be exactly the correct fifty, a universal lens. It is not for nothing that all film cameras were equipped with just such fixes - they can shoot almost all subjects: from architecture and genre to portrait and landscape. And the high aperture will allow you to shoot even in low light conditions. In this case, the photographer will always be able to switch to DX mode and get 75 mm for large portraits.

If there are no funds at all, then fifty dollars will be enough for the first time. His review.

If you have extra funds, you can take it. Its cost is about $ 400, but the aperture is two-thirds higher.

Nikkor AF-S 85mm F1.8G will be a good choice for those who like to shoot portraits. It's compact enough to lug around a camera every day, blurring out the background perfectly and delivering a soft and beautiful drawing. But its cost is about 500 conventional units. There is also a version with aperture F1.4, but whether it is worth overpaying, decide for yourself, based on the tasks set.

Nikkor AF-S 28mm F1.8G is the very glass that is suitable for shooting architecture or landscapes. Wide angle, beautiful drawing, low level of distortion for $ 700 is a good choice.

You can also look at the road - one of the best wide-angle ever made. ... Let it be darker, but the picture will give better. But considering the cost of $ 2,000, it's worth considering three times if you need it.

Is a standard high-aperture lens for everyday use. Sharp, fast, beautiful, heavy, it will allow you to shoot all kinds of scenes with good results. It costs a lot - 1600 bucks. ...

Nikkor AF-S 70-200mm F2.8G VR II is a light telephoto zoom for reporters. The built-in stub minimizes lubrication, there are practically no defects, and the price of 2100 conventional units makes you lick your lips. But keep in mind that buying such a whopper is worth it for professional work - when I came to the club with him, they asked me to confirm the accreditation of a journalist.

Alternative

In fact, the only alternative and competitor. The price category is about the same, and even a little cheaper. Its cost now in the vastness of Ukraine starts at $ 1,500. The carcass is lighter and smaller, the sensor is slightly inferior in detail in nominal terms. In real conditions, you will hardly feel the difference. The matrix from a competitor will make a little less noise in the dark, have the same excellent DD and color rendering. The rate of fire is slightly lower - 4.5 f / s versus 6. On board there are only 11 AF points with one cross-shaped one. But the points are located more evenly across the frame. The viewfinder loses - only 97% coverage.

Canon 6D also has one memory card slot and no built-in flash. But there are Wi-Fi and GPS modules.

You can, of course, take the Nikon D600 as well - it will cost a little less - about $ 1,600. But at the same time, you doom yourself to torment about the oil on the matrix and the breakage of the mirror / shutter. Considering the $ 100 difference with the next generation, I think it's not worth it.

Summary

I am sure that the Nikon D610, despite a number of small drawbacks, will easily win the love of many photographers. This is the smallest and most affordable full-frame DSLR from the manufacturers, which brings the best practices to life: excellent detail, low noise, wide dynamic range.

And, if you belong to the Nikonist cohort and can afford such a device, take it. You are unlikely to be disappointed. The camera will allow you to complete the entire range of tasks quickly and efficiently. And considering that the price tag for it now starts at $ 1,700 on the Ukrainian Internet, this is an excellent equipment upgrade. Although, if you have a Nikon D600, then you definitely shouldn't upgrade.

And yes, I hope that the rubber bands will not come off after six months of active use. Otherwise, this is another drawback to the manufacturer's karma.

Even during the local Ukrainian presentation of the novelty, an employee of the Russian representative office of Nikon stated directly that there are revolutionary cameras, and there are evolutionary ones - and the Nikon D610 belongs to the second type. Indeed, making a revolution only one and a half years after the introduction of the iconic full-frame camera, which costs only $ 2,099, is extremely difficult. However, this very evolution at first glance looks really quite modest - a cursory examination of the declared characteristics turns into a game of "find 10 differences". Finding them is extremely difficult. But what you can notice is the decreased cost - in one fell swoop for $ 100. Dilutes a boring presentation by increasing the speed of continuous shooting by 0.5 frames / s. The rest of the camera is extremely similar to the D600 - it has the same sensor, processor, viewfinder, display, autofocus and metering module, after all, cameras have exactly the same batteries and bodies. It turns out that this is not even evolution, but some kind of facelift? Let's try to figure it out.

⇡ Appearance and usability

The camera is not only similar to the previous D600 - outwardly it is an exact copy, and not only the size and shape have not changed, but also the icons on the keys and the body. In general, if you close the nameplate on the front panel, as well as the information sticker on the "belly", then the new product from the D600 will not be distinguished even by the owner of the latter. However, from a subjective point of view, the control is very convenient, so there was no need to change anything. Conservatism is not always a disadvantage.

The materials of the case are, of course, of the same quality. And the assembly is traditionally pleasantly pleasing with the exact fit of the body panels and the absence of squeaks when squeezed. Like its predecessor, the tested camera is assembled at the company's Thai factory. Actually, the D610 is currently the only full-frame camera of the company, assembled outside of Japan, but this did not affect the build quality - there is nothing to complain about.

On the front are the lens mount, front command dial, autofocus lamp, IR remote control receiver, monaural microphone, and a pair of programmable keys, one of which, of course, is responsible for previewing by default.

From the rear, there are also no differences. To the left of the display there is a row of multifunctional hot keys, above the display there is a viewfinder, as well as keys for switching to viewing and deleting modes. To the right is the rear command dial, AE / AF lock button, a round eight-way key with an enter button in the center and an at least round focus-point selection lock selector around the perimeter. Nearby there is a button for switching to the LiveView mode, supplemented by a display mode (photo / video) lever when shooting LiveView, as well as a button for changing the display mode of the main display. There is also a system speaker, a recording indicator and a rear IR receiver.

Above - again no difference. To the left of the uplift flash, supplemented by a "hot shoe" at the base, are the familiar command dials, one above the other, both equipped with lock keys. The upper dial is responsible for the selection of the shooting mode, and the lower one for the selection of the drive mode. To the right of the flash there are an additional monochrome segment display, keys for selecting the exposure metering and exposure compensation for video recording, as well as a shutter button, supplemented by a power lever, the extreme position of which is responsible for activating the backlight of the segment display.

Bottom again unchanged. There is a tripod mount (ISO 518), as well as a battery compartment and a battery grip connector hidden by a rubber cap.

The left side surface is heavily loaded. There is a flash ejection key (it is also used to select an operating mode), a bracketing button, and a focus mode selection lever with a key for adjusting the autofocus operation in the center. In addition, under the three rubber plugs are hidden connectors for headphones, microphone, USB and HDMI cables, as well as a wired remote control. On the right, only a large cover is installed, hiding a pair of memory card slots.

    Mention of products 3

    The choice of a "system" for a photographer, from amateurs to professionals with a huge fleet of equipment, is often determined by chance - or, as many of us joke, religious preferences. I immediately realized that for me "Nikon is forever" in the mid-2000s: in the editorial office of a small town there was only one "DSLR" - at the editor-in-chief. It was the Nikon D70, which immediately impressed me (compared to my compact, which was quite simple at the time) with unprecedented speed - both focusing and the violently clicking the shutter. In general, it was then that I decided on my system. Of course, for a long time I could not get to such a "coolness" (and at that time the heptatee seemed to me the ultimate dream!). First, I got the Nikon D40, then the D3000 replaced it, and then the older brother of my dreams, the D90, fell into my hands. I ran with it long enough until I discovered that my dream had changed ... And it has the code name "I want a fullframe!"

    So I smoothly move on to the subject of my review - full-frame DSLR camera Nikon D610... So far, so that you don't get bored of my memories, here's a Kamchatka fox - my best photo ever taken with it.

    Curious fox cub against the background of the Koryak volcano. Avachinskoe plateau, Kamchatka. October 2015

    I continue to feel nostalgic ... So, I even remember the moment when I wanted a full-frame camera. Considering that I have met the opinion on the DNS forum that "FF is just an excuse to amuse ChSV", I think it's worthwhile to dwell on why change the camera to a full-frame one, shelling out not only for it itself, but also for replacing all accumulated during "crop "glasses in the arsenal.

    It was a concert by "Mumiy Troll". A nightclub, traditionally disgusting light and Ilya Lagutenko meows joyfully in the spotlight. It was an amazing concert, I took pictures with great pleasure. I came home and ... leafing through the pictures, I began to swear loudly. Skipping the indefinite articles, there was: "Noise! Grease! Noise! Noise!" Having somehow made up a reporting post with four and a half not the most disgusting pictures, I turned to an expensive MRZD, they say, make it so that I finally change the camera to a full frame ... I won some competition or someone gave it ... Or something else ...

    Lyrical digression: "Be careful what you wish for" (c) Route 60

    Dear MRZD loves to joke very much. And pushes people to fulfill their desires in a very extraordinary way. My trusty D90 literally a month after - I drowned on one exotic beach. From the word at all. The service center said: "Baba is a fool. You are thoroughly burned, a lot of things have burned out, it's easier to buy a new one ..." MRZD!). The luck was that just then Nikon, together with DNS, carried out an action, returning 10% of the purchase price - they were enough for me for one more lens and an external hard drive, quickly packed with photos;)

    UNBOXING WITH ANTRESOLES

    I, of course, wildly apologize for the wrinkled box - you still rarely review a gadget after two years of purchase;) Surprisingly, it has survived at all. In general, as a seasoned Nikonist, I have seen this box many times - their packaging is classic, the design is identical for most SLR cameras - only the photos of cameras and their names change, but every time the box gets bigger and bigger :)

    Inside, in addition to a thick book, there are user manuals (by the way, a rare case when the manual needs to be read not when you have already broken the gadget, but preventively - in order to find out all the possibilities, even get some tips on photography) and the guarantor, two more smaller boxes. In one of the "nesting dolls" - the camera itself with a charger and wires, in the other - a lens. I took the whale version - with a standard Nikkor 24-85. The version with stabilizer and the maximum possible aperture opening of 3.5-4.5 at different ends suited me quite well in the whale. for two years my hands haven’t reached it. ”It means that I do not really need it.

    APPEARANCE: BEAUTIFUL

    The metal case, covered with textured plastic, with modern dust and moisture protection, dimensions of 14x11x8 centimeters cannot be light. The camera itself weighs 850 grams with the battery installed. Plus the lens - depending on the inflation of the hands and desire to carry weights maximum aperture :)

    Weight itself is practically the only drawback of all professional and semi-professional SLR cameras. And for me as well. The D610 has been my love for two years now, but often, when going on a trip, I am tormented by doubts: a couple of extra clothes or a telephoto camera, a huge photo backpack or a bag with a mirrorless camera? I choose, depending on the priorities - I don't take a short trip without large photo plans, but I can't go anywhere without it to different seas - Baikals - Kamchatka!

    The body is equipped with rubberized inserts. That on the body itself, that on the complete lens for two years of active use, they did not loosen at all, they also sit tightly.

    Lyrical digression: why is it good to review a thing that has been used for a long time, as opposed to a novelty, which has only been turned in my hands or has been around for a month - such details are also checked. I will talk about wear resistance below, however, I will say more.

    On the left side of the lens there are two "rockers" - switching the focusing mode from automatic to manual and turning the stabilizer on / off.

    There is also an autofocus switch on the camera itself - below, under the lens release button. It is used when the lens is without a "motor" - with a so-called screwdriver :) In addition, there are two more buttons on the left of the body - flash and bracketing.

    Top view - the controls are also classic for Nikon SLRs: on the right is a monochrome display, a power lever, an illuminating display in the extreme position, exposure metering (formatting), exposure compensation and video shooting buttons. True, by touch I sometimes confuse it with one of the "exposure" ones, but this is not a drawback of the camera, but of scattered fingers;)

    The built-in flash (which I use very rarely - but it's good that there is) and a hot shoe for off-camera flash and other accessories are also on top.

    Particular attention to the left corner - there is a wheel of shooting modes. "Green zone", PASM, separate flashless (I don’t understand why, if there is P) preset SCENE options and two custom ones. To be honest, during the time I owned the camera, I didn’t use any others except PASM.

    Under the wheel is a dial for selecting the types of shooting - single frames, bursts, delayed, and so on.

    Let's go to the rear of the camera - there is a rubber eyecup to the viewfinder. The viewfinder is mirrored, of course. 3.2-inch color display - non-touch. non-reversible. I only regret the latter - and that is rare. There is a protection on the display, I took it off for a photo.

    The classic set of controls, from which I would focus only on two lever-buttons: LiveView mode for photos and videos (it's a pity that separately, sometimes I get confused, plus I regret that you cannot shoot video with the screen off, only through the viewfinder) and multi selector with main command dial - four-position button with OK in the middle.

    You can also display the basic shooting settings on the screen, if you don't want to wander around the general menu.

    The D610 has two slots for memory cards - and who would know how often it helped me out when I forgot the first flash drive (a regular SD, by the way) in my laptop and ran off to shoot, or some of my friends needed to be given a spare card. By the way, the camera of a card with a capacity of up to 64 GB "eats", I recommend using at least 32-16. It's just that the files (even jeepgs) are quite "heavy" and there will be about a hundred pictures on eight gigabytes ... For a photo-loving blogger, this is, as you know, "nothing" at all.

    All connectors for external connections - from microphone and headphones to HDMI in mini version and USB are hidden under rubber pads on the left side of the camera.

    Bottom - battery compartment cover, rubberized insert that covers the contacts of the additional battery and a standard tripod socket.

    Nikon has its own battery - a lithium-ion EN-EL-15, with a capacity of 1900 mAh. Honestly, I never measured how many frames it was enough for me, because there were only a couple of cases when the battery ran out in the middle of shooting (if I did not forget to charge it beforehand, of course). And sometimes I took 2000-3000 photos a day. The only thing that I am planning to buy now is a spare battery - long-term shooting in cold weather is planned in February :)

    Two batteries are charged from full discharge to charging an hour. I usually do not worry at night, since there is a charge limiter.

    Finishing the theme of appearance ... We have been everywhere with my camera! Of course, I tried not to drop him, but all the same life he is already "bit", And how did this affect his appearance? Unless he got a little dusty and wiped around the corners.

    GLASS SET

    My collection of "glasses" is very modest - only the most necessary, as they say. During these two years I shot with three lenses:

    Whale 24-85

    Televik 80-200 2.8

    Half a ruble - 50 1.8 (by the way, I bought it at that time for a share and exactly the same is now being played in the review competition, I recommend it to my colleagues and future winners in every possible way)

    I also tried the universal Tamron 17-200 (in the hope of forgetting about changing glasses while traveling and, as a result, wasting time and dust on the matrix), but it didn't work - the picture from it seemed too soapy and flat to me. In general, I sold it to those who value compactness and versatility more than "ringing sharpness".

    Speaking of the latter, it is mainly provided by a telephoto lens in all its glory. I still have an old version of it, without a stabilizer. The new one works wonders in general. True and worth it like a car ...

    NOW - SLIDES!

    Remember the old anecdote - a lecture about love? So we finally got to the slides and they will also be about love. Love for nature and photography, events and travel, looking at insects and writing reviews. My Nikon helps me in all this (however, I'm not monogamous, I have a couple more mirrorless cameras, but this is a topic for another review;).

    First, nature. Landscape shots in good lighting can be excellent for both the phone and the "soap box", but mobile shots will not always give a special texture, bulge to the image. Well, I dare to hope so;)

    Mutnovskaya geothermal zone. A geyser hovers in the distance. Kamchatka, October 2015.

    Ice caves on Mutnovsky volcano - Kamchatka, October 2015.

    Naturally, I shoot all the frames in NEF (Nikon's raw file format) and then process them in lightroom, but the very possibility for processing, a large dynamic range that allows you to avoid falling shadows and knocking out highlights, is provided by the camera. For example, I took the picture above in the twilight of a cave, and I managed to preserve both the bright color of the sky and the landscape outside, and the texture of stones, melted snow vaults and a running stream inside.

    Or here - concerts. It was not in vain that I began my post with recollections of how I processed concert photographs, almost crying ... So, now processing images from different performances is a pleasure. Yes, a lot of defects remain even now (here the camera is not very lucky with a photographer, I suppose;), but the number of pictures has increased significantly, which is not a shame not only to show, but also to sell on stock. The same Roxette concert is very popular with me.

    Per Gessle, Roxette group in Khabarovsk. Fall 2014

    Diana Arbenina, "Night Snipers" group in Khabarovsk - November 2015

    Shibari master class at the Far East tattoo-piercing convention, 2014

    Festival of Orchestras "Amur Waves", May 2015

    Returning to nature - I was constantly moving to the open air with a camera, I can say that the manufacturer's words about moisture protection and protection from dust have been checked by me very thoroughly - for example, the Three Brothers kekurs in the photo below were photographed during the not weak waves in the ocean - at the exit from the bay our yacht was rocking, spray flew everywhere ... And once a brave photographer (spoiler: not me, but my husband) was rolled from head to toe by one particularly impudent wave - along with a camera. So what? I went into the cabin, received a scolding from me and went on to shoot. We wiped the camera, not a drop got inside.

    Far Eastern Komarov lotuses at sunset - shot against the sun. Khabarovsk, August 2015

    The same speed that once struck me in my first acquaintance with Nikon DSLRs still remains with the representatives of their line. Shooting sports or animals is a wild pleasure for me now. Of course, I promised not to post cats in this review, but tigers are completely different, right? :) At the same time I boast - the photo below recently won first place at the All-Russian competition "Nature and Animals of the Far East" in the category "Amur Tiger".

    Young tigers are played. Tiger Park, Harbin, October 2014

    BMX - Freestyle motocross demonstrations. Khabarovsk, summer 2014

    A full-fledged macro photography should still be carried out with lenses intended for it, or at least with macro rings (they have been in my wishlist for a long time, but still in no way :), but more or less large flowers or snakes promised in the last review can be shot with a whale lens ...

    One of the Red Book primroses of Russia is Lumbago or, as it is called in the west of the country, Dream Grass. Nizhny Novgorod region, April 2014

    Flowers of "Khabarovsk sakura" - strictly speaking, this is not sakura - but one of the plum species with inedible fruits - three-lobed almond. Khabarovsk, June 2015

    The Amur snake (aka Shrenk's snake) is a beauty snake from the Far East in the Red Book. Her name is Severina and she lives at my house. August 2014.

    By the way, I didn't say before, but one of the features of the camera is the presence of a wi-fi module that allows you to use eye-fi cards. But I expressed my opinion about them in the last nikon-review and that's what I regret that there is no full-fledged opportunity to control the camera from a smartphone and merge photos onto it immediately after "in the stock version". It would be incredibly cool, so here's another drawback of the camera if you think that the review is too richly flavored with molasses :) But this drawback is the last :)

    In general, the only time when I did not dare to take a camera with me was when I "flew" over the sea bay on a parachute attached to a yacht. And I was scared that I would drop it, and because of the weight and volume did not. But under the clouds in the basket of the balloon I went with him.

    "These are all examples of photos in good conditions for shooting" - a meticulous reader will say, and he will be almost right (concerts = difficult lighting, but not only about them) As a rule, on production blog tours, no one will display lighting fixtures in the workshops specifically for guests, and will not open the windows wide open. We shoot the way it is.

    And here's what pleases - you can raise ISO on a full frame, if not up to the maximum in the settings of 25600, then up to 6400 - the noise will be minimal. I didn’t start doing boring tests with different ISOs, there are enough of them on our Internet - those who wish will find it, I prefer to show how I came in handy in my life. In reportage shooting, I set the same ISO on the automatic machine, with a limit of up to 6400 itself, and - I just don't think about it. I know - for a blog and publications in the media, the quality is enough for me.

    Portrait photography is something that I practically do not need, but an important aspect for those who switch to full-frame, earning studio and event photography to order - from weddings and corporate parties to girls' photos. I don't shoot in the studio, strobe for me is a dark forest, I admit right away. But portraits are often released at events or on blog tours. Despite the fact that, unlike staged photography, there is not much time to "work" with a particular model - the result is excellent.

By doing this, he prevented an even greater catastrophe then and reduced the number of victims. SSHGES, April 2014.

    The D610 has an Active D-Lighting function and the ability to do HDR (better with a tripod), as well as in-camera processing capabilities - from applying preset filters to changing the scales of one or another image characteristic - sharpness, contrast, lightness, saturation.

    But if, in the case of the soap box, I said that this would not be in demand by those who simply "take pictures on the machine", then looking at the full frame, I will say differently: I just do not understand WHY this is necessary for the main target audience of this camera, which. against. shoots in manual or semi-automatic modes and brings the pictures to mind by post-processing on a computer. In general, I have a joke in my head: "Professionals_without_space_not_used" and yes, this is photosnobism.

    It would seem that when shooting with a tripod and at long exposure, when the aperture is "clamped" and the ISO is reduced to minimum values, the main advantages of full-frame SLR cameras in comparison with their "cropped" younger sisters come to naught. And many will confirm this by showing the unreal beauty of the photo. But it still seems to me that the pictures come out clearer. Well, or I am justifying myself for the drowned previous camera and the expensive current one :)

    I literally hear voices in my head (no, not schizophrenia :), they say, everything depends on the photographer. Yes, it depends and you should at least know the basic settings of the camera, but I will not say that the camera does not affect the result. I don’t consider myself a good photographer at all, I’m just a fan of pushing a button, a blogger who captures reality. Professionals, of course, have pictures from both a matchbox and D4s (involuntary salivation went, gone ... :) bear the general stamp of genius :) In the case when a person does not have enough stars from the sky, but tries to photograph - quality and opportunities apparatus is very strongly affected.

    And as proof, I will show two pictures of my husband's authorship, who rarely picks up a camera and does not understand the shooting modes and other settings from the word in general. In one case, he simply shot in P-mode, and in the second, he consulted me on the phone "how to do it with a long exposure."

    A little about the additional features of the camera. Right "inside" you can set up time-lapse shooting, for example. Moreover, both separately and with the formation of video immediately. The only thing, last year I was able to shoot long time-lapses, in the same - due to lack of practice - I got confused in the settings and made only a second video.

    Stars over the Koryaksky volcano. Kamchatka, October 2015.

    As for the video itself - during the use of all Nikon DSLRs that have a video function, I highlight two drawbacks for me when using a camera as a camcorder:

    1. Autofocus does not adjust to changes in the frame, as it was set before the start of shooting, and so it goes. It can be "tweaked" in the process by pressing the shutter button halfway. In this case, the sharpness "rotates" several times and focuses on a new point.

    2. By default, the internal microphone is very sensitive - at concerts (and more often I write videos there), its sensitivity must be greatly reduced, otherwise there will be "phoning".

    An example of the video is below (shot handheld, with a heavy telephoto camera, a slight shake of the picture from there)

    Concert of Vadim Samoilov, Agatha Christie group. Khabarovsk, December 2015.

    We are slowly creeping towards the end of the review ("Hurray!" - the husband who is on duty in the kitchen and feeds Olivier your humble servant who does not leave the computer while writing a post rejoiced) and a couple more examples already directly concern the members of the "DNS Club" - photos for reviews I do it mainly on the D610, so its capabilities, coupled with my curvature;) - can be judged by them.

    The photo for the review of the alarm clock was taken in a lightbox, on a black background - without a flash, with two bulbs on the sides.

    You can talk about the camera for a long time ("Oh my God, no!" - said the husband), remembering the focus points, Live View mode, quiet shutter release mode ... And so on, and so on ... But this review has already exceeded all reasonable volumes, and the New Year is very close ... Therefore, here are two more cards for you, as an example of his work and my conclusion - and I went to chop and eat salads in anticipation of Putin's five minutes.

    CONCLUSION: NYASHMYASH, NIKON IS OUR!

    In short: this is my camera. She is beautiful inside and out. Heavy, not sending pictures to Instagram on the click, but allowing you to create wonderful photos.

    Yes, if Santa Claus suddenly brings me a D750 or 810 ... but why waste time on trifles, Medvedev's D4s - I will not refuse and I will be very happy. But I will definitely not change the camera on purpose, grow "even higher" in terms of technology. Do you hear, dear MRZD, DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING! I have not even studied all the possibilities of this camera, not that I have grown to their full use. Therefore, I would rather wish myself in the new year some super-wide, light-colored staff, a new tripod (the last one died in Kamchatka ...) and a bunch of little things ...

    Happy New Year to all of you and wish you all dreams come true , and also remember that if you teach a child to take pictures from childhood, he will never have money for drugs! Happiness and cool moments for you - it does not matter, captured in the photo or not!
