How to effectively change your job advice from a psychologist. How to change jobs correctly are real stories. What is important to consider before changing jobs

Good afternoon! Elena Melnikova with you with a two-volume work book, today we'll talk about how to change your profession.

There are not so many people who chose a profession in early childhood and remain faithful to it all their lives. The rest are faced at least once with the question of the correctness of self-determination. What makes people think about it?

1. You have reached the ceiling of a professional or career growth.

The previous type of activity has ceased to bring satisfaction. The time when you with burning eyes carried out the difficult assignments of the leadership is long gone. What was previously considered to be the acquisition of valuable experience has become routine everyday life.

This can happen to anyone who has grown out of a beginner's pants and has exhausted his potential in this area. At the same time, some are helped by the promotion of career ladder, but it is not available to others either. So, for example, it was in my work with mentally retarded children.

Stability is good, but sometimes it leads to stagnation. From time to time, a person needs to change something in his life. Of course, the simplest thing is to rearrange your home or change your wardrobe. But, if this does not bring satisfaction, why not dare to make more global changes? It has been proven by practice that changes in life contribute to getting rid of depression, activation of thought processes, and, consequently, increased readiness to perform new tasks.

2. You are overtaken by professional burnout.

Alas, this is not a whim and not a whim, but a serious illness, where sometimes the only way out is to change the field of activity.

When I was working in pedagogy, I was lucky enough to attend a special training to get rid of this condition. It is no secret that it is working with people, especially in a post-industrial society, that wears out the body the most.

The training not only offered ways to fill life with bright colors, but also tried to resolve the main work conflicts that lead to long-term stress. If employees more often received such trainings as a gift from the management (and in our case it was so), the team would be more united, the state of health would be better, and the turnover would be less.

The most interesting thing is that the head teacher, who went with us to the group and gave the school about 50 years, considered these classes a whim. Still, after all, a real teacher must work selflessly, without complaining of fatigue! Once she went on sick leave and never came back from it.

3. The current position is dangerous to health.

Working in a hot workshop, with an X-ray machine, on night shifts or in the cold shouldn't take a lifetime, so if your activity involves a risk to the body, this is an important reason to think about yourself.

4. Heavy loads.

If work takes too long, comes home with you and takes place of honor on your to-do list for the weekend, wonder if it's worth it.

We work to live, but not the other way around. Of course, a person who is keen on creativity, for example, a fashion designer or an actor, does not consider this state of affairs to be out of hand, but if constant thoughts about work interfere with family and leisure, it’s probably time to correctly prioritize.

5. Professional deformation.

People around them expect annoying advice from a teacher, and excessive caution and a pathological love for cleanliness from a doctor. It's no secret that work really shapes our habits, needs and way of thinking, and even determines the perception of us by our loved ones. By changing your occupation, you will not only change internally, but also show others that your potential is much broader.

6. You have to move to another area (from city to village, from north to south), where your current profession is not in demand.

If possible, study the local labor market in advance so that there is time for retraining.

My friend, a chemist by profession, had experience in European companies, but by the will of fate she ended up in the suburbs. Unable to get a job due to frequent travel, she found a student and was tutoring over the internet.

7. Approaching unfit age.

If your activity has an age limit and retirement is just around the corner, it's time to start thinking about what to do in the future. Yes, many athletes become coaches, but related activities are not always possible. Perhaps the time has come to remember the dreams of youth or activate your forgotten abilities.

8. Current work is fraught with financial instability and over time the situation only gets worse.

Over the past decades, the situation on the labor market has changed more than once. Those professions that not so long ago were considered a guarantee of a comfortable existence suddenly disappeared into oblivion, and new or half-forgotten old ones ascended to the monetary Olympus.

Know how to catch a wave - good luck! If keeping your nose down the wind is not in your nature all the time, and your salary is less and less like money, connect your family, friends and the Internet. As they say, one head is good, but two are better.

9. Change in life values.

Sometimes a person wonders if his work benefits him and society. This is often associated with a change in religious creature. Having gained faith, the bartender may not want to prepare alcoholic cocktails, and the dancer can entertain the population in nightclubs. Someone has a strong desire to help people or animals. In this case, you can join any volunteer movement and, if it does not tire you, look for yourself in a related activity.

10. Finding a dream.

Our dreams are not always associated with professional activities, but it also happens. Perhaps in your youth you saw yourself exclusively in a certain area, but then, stepping on your throat with your own song, you obeyed the wishes of your parents or the requirement of circumstances, and now the memories of unfulfilled hopes haunt you. Or, on the contrary, only now have you realized that your whole life has been preparation for the dream job and now is the time to carry out your plans.

Are my years my wealth?

If you are now 18 - 20 years old and you consider your employment as a part-time job while studying, you are in luck. But you are unlikely to be reading this article.

As a rule, the issue of changing a profession worries humanity at a more mature age, when youthful maximalism and adventurism have already been exhausted, and doubts - yours and potential employers - are gaining momentum.

How do you decide to change after 30 years?

For me, the crisis of my thirties began even before the onset of this age. I didn’t like the city where I live, and my position is a teacher in a correctional boarding school. On my birthday, my friend and I went to a remote village to ride horses (this was my first experience), and there I decided to change my place of residence and work. And everything worked out!

Six months later, I got a house in a small town. It became objectively impossible to work in the same place, because at 9 pm, when the shift ended, the transport did not go to my house. Having somehow interrupted before going on vacation, I began to look for a place closer to home and, of course, no longer in pedagogy.

Everything was decided by an accidentally seen ad: “The hotel needs an administrator”. Initially they did not want to hire a teacher in the service sector, but, apparently, the ardent desire to get a different experience written on my face played a role. With the “day-three” schedule, I had a lot of time for household chores. But the changes did not end there.

Increasingly, I began to think about a remote part-time job (it’s not easy to find another in a small town!), And there wasn’t enough creativity in my life, and then I came across Vasily Blinov’s ad. By the way, my early articles were also written on a work computer in work time(may the former administration forgive me!)

If the cherished "want" more and more often reminds of yourself, drive away your fears. As Dorian Gray says, The best way overcome the temptation - give in to it. Over the years, we will regret what we did not do. Well, so that I would not be reproached for advice to rush into the pool headlong, we will be a little cautious.

  • Make a wish list

Try for some time to write down everything that does not suit you in the old place and what you would like from the new one. Of course, all aspirations are not destined to come true immediately, but you will bring some clarity to the overall picture.

  • Rate yourself

Knowledge, skills, business and personal qualities - everything that has been accumulated over previous years. Modest and modest women can ask for help from loved ones. Sometimes it helps to make unexpected choices. My friend Ksenia, having worked for two postgraduate years in a veterinary clinic, was looking for something to her liking for a long time, until one day someone, having tasted her cake, ordered her another one. Now she has stable orders - and this is without any rates and crusts.

With a list of skills in hand, draw all possible perspectives. Even if you feel like it's time to establish yourself as a fashion designer, include in the list a few related specialties that fall back on your way into the fashion world.

  • If you have no moral strength to do the same thing, and you have not yet decided on a new type of activity, ask your friends and relatives what you could do.

Take the career guidance test again. It is good in such cases to read from cover to cover a newspaper with vacancies (namely a newspaper, because on the Internet you carry out a thematic search, and in the press you may come across an unexpected solution). Once I was leafing through it because I had nothing to do and found my sister a job of painting watch bands.

  • Feel the ground

To learn as much as possible about your future profession, attend the necessary events, meet potential colleagues. This will help you avoid unexpected disappointments. So, one of my friends, who passionately dreamed of becoming a conductor, signed up for a course, but when she found out that she had to wash the toilets, she left from the very first lesson.

  • Get ready now!

Think about what knowledge you need to improve, what skills you lack for your future profession, and where you can get them. In some places, you can limit yourself to seminars and webinars, and sometimes only expensive courses can help. If your current job can help you improve your skills, don't miss the opportunity!

  • Perhaps a related specialty will help you make a smooth transition, which will give you new skills.
  • Provide yourself with a financial cushion for the time of change, because the salary at first is likely to be less than the previous one.
  • Think about how to explain the field change to a recruiter.

If necessary, attend self-confidence training sessions. Of course, a potential employer will have many questions for you. Including how you will handle the likely decline in income. A woman can always refer to a strong rear and a convenient schedule for a family, a man to savings and confidence in future success. The most important thing is to show a passion for a new occupation and an ardent desire to work in this company.

  • Start writing and mailing your resume and do not shy away from word of mouth!

We do not always have a financial cushion for sharp jumps, but it is definitely worth a try. You can always sign up for courses, take online training or look for a part-time job. By the way, if you really want something, the Universe sends help: on the way come across necessary people, on the Internet - "random" ads, etc. It's never too late!

Not all of us are by nature great combinators, capable of changing our own reality every second. More often than not, we need to think carefully before making a decision. A change of profession, especially at a mature age, is a serious and responsible step, but this does not mean at all that it is not worth it.

What opportunities will open up after the long-awaited changes?

Nice bonuses for the brave

  • Expanding your own competence

Previously, you skillfully reduced debit with credit, and then your soul called you into the world of cosmetics, and now you already know so much about skin care. Of course, knowledge can be obtained through webinars and courses, but their ideal practice is always associated with practice.

  • Acquisition of new qualities of character

If before you lacked the ability to stop a galloping horse, then, getting a job as a groom, you will learn not so much.

  • New acquaintances (especially for creative professions)

And this is not only a benefit, but, first of all, communication and fresh interests.

  • Expanding the horizon

A person who has worked in one place all his life - perhaps good specialist... But just think how much new you will learn when, along with the change of profession, you will receive knowledge, acquaintances and, possibly, a couple more hobbies!

  • Self-realization

I sincerely wish you that it does not end there, but just begins!

  • Improving self-esteem

Even new position not related to career growth, "I did it" is worthy of respect in itself. This is something for which you can and should praise yourself.

  • Inspiration

How sad the creative soul was without fresh knowledge, skills and impressions! And finally they happened! Even if at first glance the work does not dispose to creativity, a true creator will find inspiration everywhere. At least access to a service computer or spray gun: p

  • Change in psychological status (age, self-awareness)

If it seems to you that the address by name and patronymic adds a few extra years, or, on the contrary, the options "Helen" and "girl" automatically turn you into an eternal youth, perhaps your position is at odds with your sense of self.

Remote work is the ideal case when you independently determine the style of addressing yourself. To form an image using a sonorous login or, on the contrary, hide behind a meaningless nickname - it's up to you. And the most important thing here is the assessment of your personality only by the results of labor.

  • New schedule

Perhaps not the most familiar and not ideally convenient, but you can find advantages in everything.

It is easier to plan your daily routine on your own. remote work... If it is not connected with calling or live broadcasting, no one will forbid you to work at night or jump up with the first cocks.

  • A dream come true

Perhaps the most pleasant bonus. It remains only to wish that dreams do not end there.

And finally, any change in life entails new turns. The stream can swirl as soon as you enter it. Sometimes the course of events is completely unpredictable. Therefore, I do not undertake to continue this point: p

Changing jobs is a responsible and difficult step that every person takes in his life. However, all its complexity lies in just one thing - to force yourself to make up your mind. Most people cannot do this due to obsessive fears and endless doubts storming their heads. They lack a drop of confidence and faith in their own future.

To stop being confused and finally come to a definite decision, in this article we will look at several ways to convince yourself of the benefits of being fired. After all, in truth, you only need arguments, deep in my soul it is clear that it is time to change something.

Ways to decide on a job change

# 1 Charge someone else's experience

It's no surprise that you still have doubts. It's just that your brain is based on its conjectures and guesses, making an elephant out of a fly. Some people also throw firewood into the fire, promising all sorts of troubles and bad consequences of your idea. What determination there is in this stifling atmosphere!

In order to expand your understanding and gain at least a drop of faith, it is worth turn to other points of view... You can talk to your friends, or you can just surf the forums. In most cases, people do not regret taking this step. For some, everything worked out perfectly, for others it was more modest, but everyone gained valuable experience in their own power.

Concentrate on favorable the consequences of changing jobs, because your thoughts are reflected in your actions. If there are examples of failures, then with a probability of 99% the same will happen in reality, because you will automatically compare your situation (no matter how good it is) with the situation of other people and you will definitely find common features... You will have a prism that will distort real events. Better this prism will be "improving" or transparent than spoiling life.

# 2 Waiting is pointless

You will never be 100% sure. You will never be fully prepared to be fired. There are no ideal conditions.

If you are still making excuses and waiting for a certain moment, then you are just wasting time. You went to the Internet and are looking for how to decide to change jobs, which means that in reality everything was decided long ago... It's just that something holds you back, something pulls you back and prevents you from opening up to change. This is a normal condition inherent in every person. It is a companion for self-development and getting out of the comfort zone. chasing this condition in order to overcome it and become a little stronger again.

And you? You grab onto that feeling and use it as an excuse. I want to think, I want to, and so on. It is clear that there is no need to chop off the shoulder, but hesitating and doubting is even worse. So you can live your whole life in fear and die, regretting excessive "decency" and indecision.

I was afraid to approach the girl, I was afraid to say NO in due time, I was afraid to quit my unloved job, I was afraid to meet a person and so on ad infinitum.

Sometimes you just need someone to remind it. You yourself know all this, you constantly hear in “smart” quotes and motivating pictures. Only all these pictures blur the eyes and fly by - everything remains as it is.

# 3 Introduce yourself through time

What will happen to you in 5 years? Are you sure you can endure the routine and the same people for so long? Perhaps now you are simply attacked by depression and the number 5 does not cause much fear. In this case, everything is fine, you need to wait for the vacation and rest.

But if something has shrunk inside, and the brain cannot perceive such a long period of time, then something needs to be changed. Indeed, why wait? You get old, you lose the habit of adapting to new conditions, you lose your professional acumen. Maybe you should quit early? After all, the sooner you quit, the faster you get settled, the faster you will join the team, the faster you move up the career ladder. You will spend time on construction, not destruction.

In general, it is useful to ask yourself such questions directed to the future. They help to navigate and in some cases overtake competitors (in our case, other people, job seekers) Let's go through a list of such questions and move on to the next point.

  • What will happen in the country in a year in accordance with the current situation, and not promises on TV? (Food price, inflation)
  • What is happening in the labor market, will there be a crisis and reductions? (The economy develops cyclically, it is necessary to determine the phase)
  • What will happen to my children? What if you need to spend more time on them?
  • What will happen to my parents? Suddenly need more money for their departure?

# 4 Make a list of cons

You can put your thoughts down on paper and make a structured list of all the cons. This will help cool down the emotional mess and take a more balanced approach. What specifically don't you like? For example:

  • Colleagues, constant gossip, attitude towards you
  • Salary
  • Schedule
  • Management, bosses
  • Location of work
  • Type of work
  • Workload
  • Scope of responsibility
  • Lack of prospects
  • Internal foundations and rules

This list will be a kind of source of negativity that will push you to take decisive action.

# 5 Impossible to lose

Life is life. It is impossible to lose in it - it’s just a process. Yes, maybe after taking on new job will get worse, but what is stopping you from leaving again? The second and third time it will be easier to do this, because you will already have experience and will not have time to become very attached. In any case, you will not starve to death and stay on the street.

All this means that you should not reproach too much and. The process itself is important, as a result of which you will develop and improve your skills. And again the same question: what would you like to remember in old age? A boring, unloved job or a constant struggle and victories? It is up to you to make the decision, and this will have to be done in the near future.

# 6 Prepare

Often the water is muddied by the fear of the uncertainty of the future. Will I be able to quickly find a job when I quit? Do I like her? Will I receive enough?

To prevent this condition, you just need to prepare carefully. Start saving money in advance, looking for ads, asking friends, going to interviews, studying new information and still be in your old job. Let you spend free time, but save your nerves.

# 7 Interests

And since we have moved on to special cases, it should be said about this. Sometimes a person is simply embarrassed to tell his boss about the dismissal, he is afraid of the opinion of his colleagues around him.

But colleagues and boss are the people with whom we spend most of our time. Only in the morning and in the evening do we communicate with the family, the rest of the time is spent on work. We can say that work is our second family.

What will happen if everyone in this family is obeyed? What happens if you suck up to everyone? What will happen if everyone is pleased? And it will be that you will become a rag on which everyone will wipe their feet. Your esteemed colleagues will consider your weakness and will either belittle or exploit you. It turns out that you will spend your main life time (from 8 to 17) surrounded by a second “family” consisting of continuous manipulators. You will stop feeling and gradually slide down to the category of "second-rate" people. Do you need it?

We know you can't be completely happy person doing something you don't love day after day. Even if it brings in a good income. Or it may be so: up to some point, you loved your job very much. But now the moment of "burnout" has come. Before your favorite work ceased to bring pleasure, you make an effort on yourself, going to work, you cannot wait for the end working day, relationships with colleagues began to annoy you. What to do? How do you decide to change jobs? In the article we will share with you the effective recommendations of psychologists, present an algorithm of actions to change employment.

Vacation or dismissal?

How to change jobs correctly? Listen to yourself first. Reflect: Do you really want to change jobs?

The reason for your irritation, disgust for her can be banal fatigue. You spend a monotonous weekend, haven't been on vacation for a long time, worked on complex project worked with an overly nervous client. All this is successfully "treated" by a full-fledged saturated rest.

It's another matter - if you realized for yourself that what you are doing has become alien to you, you "grew" out of such activities, once made a mistake by devoting yourself to this occupation.

Do you have a reason?

Changing jobs is not a case where you have to rely entirely on emotions. If you are offended by your boss, got caught by an unpleasant client, a colleague began to annoy you, you made an annoying mistake - this will not be a sufficient reason to leave your workplace. The unpleasant sediment will quickly disappear, but the consequences of a rushed decision will haunt you for a long time.

Let's define sufficient reasons to change jobs:

Stop and reflect

How do you decide to change jobs? We recommend taking a couple of weeks off and trying to retire. It is best to go to a place where there is no internet or even cellular communication. As psychologists say, in the first week of such seclusion, your brain will begin to "rebel": "What am I going to do without work?", "Where can I go?"

But the second week will be productive. Most often, at this time, a draft algorithm "How to change a job" - a company, a position, an industry - is already beginning to take shape in the mind. Or you will understand what caused your dissatisfaction and aversion to real employment, you will be able to deal with this reason and start your previous activity with fresh strength and harmony in your soul.

Decide what you want

How to change jobs? We continue to understand. You realized that your workplace does not suit you so much that one way out of the situation is to change it. Good. Now make a clear list of what you don't like:

  • Salary.
  • Schedule.
  • The attitude of management and colleagues.
  • Location of the company.
  • Prospects for career growth, professional self-development.
  • Internal labor regulations, etc.

This list will be useful to you in the future, so as not to be mistaken when choosing the next employer, not to change the awl for soap.

Decide what you are good at

How to change jobs correctly? We have already decided what kind of workplace we want to see in perspective. Now it's time to turn to your beloved. At this stage, it is important to thoroughly highlight what you are good at, what your professional and personal qualities will help you take a more promising job.

This is where making a list comes in handy again. Psychologists advise to refuse to include in it the "sociability, stress resistance, benevolence" that have set the teeth on edge. Try to mention specific examples... For example, "I am a master of Photoshop", "I have the gift of persuasion that helps to win tenders," etc. You can make two columns: what is equally appreciated in all areas of activity, and what sets you apart as a great specialist in a particular industry.

Preparing for change

An important sensible task is to ensure yourself the most painless job change. To do this, you need to do the following:

  • Prepare a financial pillow. As soon as you have established your decision to change your activity, start building up savings that will allow you to exist tolerably for at least six months without receiving your previous salary.
  • Conduct "reconnaissance" without saying goodbye to your previous job. Do not rush to quit immediately, having established yourself in the desire to change activities. You can take retraining courses, monitor the labor market, send out resumes, consult about new employment, combining this business with work.
  • Do not expand on the decision. Do not tell your bosses and colleagues about your desire to change their place of employment. It is much wiser to present them with a fact, filling out the letter of resignation at the right time.
  • Leave about yourself good impression... It will be understandable to have a negative attitude if you decide to quit in an emergency, vacation season, after undergoing costly retraining at the expense of the employer. Leaving a good impression of yourself is important not only from the human side. You may need references from your previous job at your new job.
  • Even your tactful departure can provoke an almost already ex-boss and colleagues to nagging, discussions, conversations behind your back. Try to stay calm, be friendly, and get carried away with preparing your successor.
  • Follow the law. Remember that you are required to work for the good of your previous employer for two weeks after you apply for dismissal. IN modern reality this term is formal, but you still need to provide for it in your plans.

Where do you want to work?

We continue to consider how to change the work according to all the rules. The next step is labor market monitoring. Sketch a list of companies where you would like to work. Match your wishes for the new job, your own capabilities and the requirements of the desired employer.

It's another matter if you decide to radically change your field of activity. Again, psychologists advise referring to the list. You need to list those industries where you would like to work and develop. Here you need to think carefully several times.

Expectation and reality

As you know, undergoing difficulties, tired of any activity, we, even being reasonable adults, begin to romanticize, idealize another sphere of activity. For example, a salesperson, tired of chasing interest on deals, sees the ideal quiet employment with a fixed salary. A worker at a monotonous job on a conveyor belt looks with delight at designers who are free in the flight of creative thought.

I want to change my place of work. How not to be mistaken? Remember that there will be flaws and difficulties everywhere. Your task is to find something where you will feel more confident, more harmonious. In other words, choose the lesser of several evils.

What's the best way to change jobs? If you are far from the area where you want to go, then refer to the reviews of people who are already working in the industry. On forums, in personal communication. Be sure to find out how this place meets your expectations for wages, career growth, and relationships in the team. Ask about difficulties and everyday troubles. It is important to arm yourself with a real idea, and not look at future work through rose-colored glasses.

We make a resume

How to change jobs at 40? Just like young professionals, you need to write a detailed resume. Today, many virtual labor exchanges offer ready-made convenient templates, in which it is enough to enter only the required information. Describe in detail your work experience, performed labor duties... List your personal achievements in your previous position. Pay attention to additional retraining and advanced training courses. We advise you to indicate in the questionnaire also the qualities from the subheading "Decide what you are good at".

The next step will be to send out your questionnaires to potential employers. But let us immediately note that it is not worth dwelling on this. Likewise, you are just trying yourself in looking for a job. As practice shows, an adult without work experience in new sphere activity, even a well-written resume does not always help to find a successful vacant place.

How to change jobs at 50? We have already mentioned that, unfortunately, sending out resumes and attending interviews is not enough. If you really want to find a worthy alternative to the past labor activity then recommendations are vital to you. From the past chief, business colleagues, work partners, friends and acquaintances.

The first difficulty here: to find a person employed in the industry of interest who can recommend you to the desired employer. The second difficulty: convincing him to help you. As practice shows, in fact only one out of 10 people delivers recommendations.

Professional help

How to change jobs at 40? Change permanent place employment, and even more so on a radically different field of activity - a serious step. Psychologists recommend not to ignore the help of professionals here.

The most attractive option is to contact a career counselor. Specialists work at employment centers, personnel retraining. The consultant will help answer the pressing question: is it worth changing jobs? The specialist will help you figure out how promising your desire is, how great the chances are to take place in new activities... Will advise on other industries where you can be successful almost from scratch.

Prepare for losses

Have you thought about how to change your main job to a part-time job? Or go to another industry altogether? Our last tip: be prepared for losses.

What awaits an adult who decides to radically change the field of activity? Here are some frustrating points:

  • Waste of time. You will spend some period of your life retraining, looking for a new job. At this time, you will not have income - on the contrary, you will incur losses.
  • Loss of money. For about a year, your wages will be 20-50% lower than the previous one. In a new job, you start as a novice specialist with an appropriate salary.
  • Descending the career ladder. A psychologically difficult stage for an adult. You may have to start working as an assistant, an assistant to a more experienced employee - in a position that is typical for recent university graduates.

And in conclusion, I would like to turn to what we started with. Think hard again: do you really want to change your job for something radically new? Maybe it's the employer, the team, the company, one unpleasant moment? Try to start solving the problem with a full vacation. Psychologists keep repeating that the obsessive desire to change jobs is rooted in banal fatigue.

There can be many reasons for wanting to change jobs. Now we will present to your attention the most significant of them.

  1. Low wage ... The moment we apply for a job, we hope that wages will rise as quickly as the rise in prices. But there are situations when the company is not doing very well or the bosses are simply not interested in the wishes of their subordinates. In this case, you work for almost nothing and you are well aware that your work is not being paid properly.
  2. Lack of career growth... If you are a careerist by nature, but for many years your work remains unnoticed by anyone, and everyone is promoted up the career ladder, but not you, then this is a reason to change your current job.
  3. Unacceptable schedule... Each enterprise has its own work schedule. Somewhere night shifts are established, somewhere they force workers to go out on holidays and weekends, and there are professions that involve irregular working hours. It happens that a person before a certain period suited his schedule, but after something changed in life, it became problematic to work in this position. For example, women without children arrange night shifts, but with the advent of babies, they simply have no one to leave them with at night.
  4. Unacceptable working conditions... People in some professions in the process of their work deal with dangerous and harmful conditions labor. These factors negatively affect the state of the employee and the health of the whole organism as a whole.
  5. Change of leadership... There are situations when the management of the company changes and you cannot find a common language with the new boss. He not only finds fault, but also tries to get you out of his place.
  6. Unhealthy team atmosphere... If you have strained relationships with colleagues, then this greatly interferes with the normal performance of your job duties... You can come out victorious from any war, but if you do not want to fight with the collective, then dismissal can be an alternative.
  7. Desire and opportunity to engage in another activity... A person should only do what he really likes. If at some point he did work that he does not like, then at the slightest opportunity he needs to change his life.

Each person has their own reasons to change jobs, but before taking a responsible step and writing a letter of resignation, you must think it over a hundred times and do nothing on emotions.

What is important to consider before changing jobs

At the moment when a person has a job, it seems that there are many vacancies around with a higher salary and better conditions labor. In reality, when a person really starts looking for a new job, he is faced with the fact that he is not suitable for some organizations as a specialist, and, perhaps, the working conditions in some companies do not suit the employee himself. And it turns out that a person quit his old job, but cannot find a new one.

And there are times when an employee returns to his old place of work. We do not know how our life will turn out, and we suggest using the recommendations that may help you in the future.

  • Do not quit until you have found a new job and received confirmation that you are indeed being hired.
Printed editions are teeming with advertisements for a wide variety of vacancies, but this does not mean that you will be hired in the first company you like.
  • Don't tell others about your plans.
There may be many envious or ill-wishers around you. With their help, rumors about your possible departure can reach your superiors, and they can make your stay in the workplace unbearable. And it's not a fact that you will leave after all.
  • Leave "nicely".
Even if there are people among your colleagues to whom you have long wanted to express everything that you think about them, you should not do this. The earth is round and it is not known what awaits all of us tomorrow, perhaps someday you still decide to return.
  • Don't "burn bridges".
After you nevertheless decide to write a letter of resignation, try to complete all the cases and transfer them to your receiver. Maintain a good relationship with your superiors, because they still have to give you a letter of recommendation for a new job.
  • Don't speak badly about your previous job.
If you "pour out the dirt" on former colleagues or your boss, this will only aggravate your precarious position in the new team. Try to correctly and tactfully answer questions related to your old place of work.

How to change jobs: first steps

People who find themselves on the verge of change are very often lost and do not know where to start and how to act correctly. Any changes in life are accompanied by experiences, and in some cases, nervous shocks.

If you are hungry for change, but do not know where to start, we suggest using the instructions we have compiled.

  1. Decide for yourself if you like your profession ... Perhaps you have a humanitarian mindset, but due to some circumstances you have to work as an accountant. In this case, most likely you simply chose the wrong profession for yourself.
  2. Think about what exactly you wanted to do ... If you are satisfied with your profession, but the current team is hated, it is enough just to change your place of work. But if you are not satisfied with your specialty, then it is time to change not only the place, but also the occupation. Think about what you do best and what gives you the most pleasure.
  3. Set the stage for future change ... You can start browsing newspapers or specialized websites with job offers, call the indicated number and arrange interviews.

If we are talking about starting a business, then you need to draw up a business plan and find start-up capital... To read:

  1. Go to active job search ... At this stage, we suggest starting attending interviews. It can take more than one month to find a new job, so you should not dwell on your plans at your current workplace.
  2. Inform management and staff about your imminent departure ... When you find a new job, or make the final decision about starting your own business, you can tell everyone about your departure.
  3. Write a statement ... According to current legislation, after filing an application for resignation, an employee must work for 14 days. He may not work out this term if he has a replacement and the boss releases the resigning person without working off.

But most often you can find a situation when the management does not want to let go of valuable employees and defiantly tears up all the statements. In this case, you need to send a letter of resignation by registered mail... Upon receipt of which, the person in charge will be obliged to sign for it and register properly.

  1. Complete all cases and hand them over to the receiver ... We do not advise you to spoil relations with anyone, therefore we recommend that you complete all the work you have started, put things in order in the papers and transfer all the affairs to the person who will perform your duties.
  2. On the last day, kindly say goodbye to the whole team and say that it was a pleasure to work with them. (even if you don't think so).

How to change jobs at 40?

Young people think that after 30 years old age begins. But when they turn 40, they continue to feel young.

It is at the age of 40 that people realize that half their lives have been lived, and there is nothing special to remember. At this point, they begin to mope and become depressed. The crisis has been active for 40 years. Often, psychologists help to get out of this state, who, according to the stories of clients, understand that they are unhappy, since they are doing unloved work.

But not all people who are in their fifties decide on such drastic changes as changing jobs. Many are satisfied with the stability, the familiar team and do not let go of the fear of the unknown.

If you consider yourself to be such a category of people, we advise you to think about the fact that there is only one life and you should not live it not the way you want, but the way you need it.

If you have a special education, long work experience, unique experience, etc., we recommend that you try to find a job to your liking.

In our country, you can often find a situation when in Soviet times, due to a lack of personnel, people were hired to work in various specialties immediately after the end of the 11th grade. Today, only people with higher education... Nevertheless, no one kicks out those "old" workers, and they successfully carry out their duties.

But if such a person with experience, but without education, decides to change the place of work, then he is unlikely to succeed, due to the lack of a diploma.

Therefore, before deciding to change the profession after 40, very well weigh the pros and cons. If you are unable to leave your old job, we advise you to find yourself a hobby with which, perhaps, you will earn extra money.

The main thing is not to get hung up on an unloved job, but to find your outlet. For example, knit things for grandchildren, bake goodies for children, or devote yourself to loved ones.

Conclusion

Life is too short to do what you don't like. The hardest part about changing jobs is taking the first step. Calculate all the pros and cons of present and future work, compare the results and start acting.

If you do everything right, then your life will change beyond recognition, and you will forget about depression and bad mood.

The reason for the change in work environment.

Faced with a choice between “change jobs” or “stay the same”? First you need to understand and understand why and whether you really want to change your place.

If the reason for changing jobs was the usual resentment against the manager, then, to put it mildly, you show your unprofessionalism. A true master of his craft will treat criticism normally, and will try to correct all his minuses and mistakes. It is clear that emotions, alas, are not always faithful friends and advisers, and you, too, through some certain time calm down, cool down, and the consequences after them will not go anywhere, you will have to "clean up the porridge you cooked."

The real reasons for leaving work can be listed using a topic such as psychology:

How to save your nerves?

Psychological advice on how to change jobs without stress says that the time for changing jobs must be chosen wisely so that it does not coincide with the so-called "off season". By this time, you can set aside all the long-lasting holidays and weekends of our calendar (it can be both New Year's days and vacation seasons), of course, no employer will have a special desire to read your resume when he is already celebrating the long-awaited weekend with his thoughts. And you need to know the fact that each profession has its own " dead seasons", with which it is imperative to dock.

In order for your superiors to have a good opinion of you, and so that, perhaps, even they will give you good recommendations, you should not appoint your departure during rush jobs and after any expensive courses. And you will definitely need good recommendations in a new workplace for your new bosses.

You should not devote absolutely all the staff that you will soon leave them, this will only give rise to unnecessary conversations and, perhaps, condemnations in your address. Better to educate everyone just before you leave. And you need to look for a job at any time free from work, so that you don’t see or hear “extra ears”. If you are scheduled for an interview, then, most likely, it will be better to take a day off, or the day at your own expense, while telling a reasonable reason to your colleagues. Do not try to criticize your bosses, thereby causing unnecessary intrigues, they will now be well, completely out of place.

The natural question in the interview will be why you intend to change jobs. Therefore, you need to think about your words in advance, you can even rehearse them the day before at home. Focus your attention on how you will pronounce your words about the reason for leaving, they should not contain emotional attachment and any anger and resentment.

Speaking about the current work, there is no need to use words of criticism, here, forgive me, for perhaps a completely inappropriate statement, how they do not speak badly of the deceased, also in this situation. Just state the fact. For example: "I would like to advance higher in a career where there was no such opportunity at my previous job. And your correct opinion will be taken into account by me."

Don't forget the laws.

It is necessary to be guided by dismissal naturally, resorting to the law. An obligatory action on your part will be to write a letter of resignation when the waiting moment comes. It would be better to do this in 2 copies, the first of which must be registered with the secretary, and the second copy should be kept for yourself.

Although there are cases when such a statement is simply thrown away or torn, perhaps because you are such an important and valuable employee for your bosses. In this case, you can act in accordance with the letter of the law by sending an application by registered mail, while keeping the receipt, where the date from which the 2 weeks assigned to you are counted will be clearly visible.

After all the necessary legal actions, in particular after submitting a letter of resignation, you need to endure 2 weeks with dignity, and most importantly, calmly, although they will be very difficult. Some leaders think that your leaving is equated with betrayal, no matter how hard you try to do everything correctly and tactfully. Some of them resort to the fact that they begin to piss you off, to put it mildly, filling you with difficult tasks, or they begin to criticize, find fault, and what is worse, even raise their voice at you.

You need to try to treat everything that happens, colloquially, "from a high tower", realizing that there are also such inadequate bosses, nothing can be done about it. Just do not leave any unfinished or forgotten things so that you can leave "with peace of mind." And it is advisable that you give all the recommendations, being substitute for you at the job you leave.

Thus, in the memory of your former colleagues, you will remain a real ace in your field and save yourself from unexpected calls from your abandoned job, stubbornly interested in any questions about work, while you are trying with great attention and diligence to grasp the essence of the new one.
