Profession "Veterinarian"

Since ancient times, man has sought to domesticate wild animals. It was not an easy job requiring constant care and attention. People who knew how to recognize and treat diseases in pets were valued and respected. Currently, there is a special science - veterinary medicine, which deals with animal diseases. And the specialists working in this area, respectively, are called veterinarians.

Problem

There is very little left before leaving school and receiving a complete secondary education and began to ask more often the question: where to go to study and for whom? My professional future will depend on which path I choose. Right choice profession will allow me to build my future career in such a way as to achieve outstanding success in it. Why did I choose this particular profession?

Awareness of the problem area

Determination of the need and its formulation

My need in this life period is the choice of a profession in accordance with my interests and capabilities and professional self-determination. This need for this moment is not paramount, but in a year or two I will face a problem in choosing a profession for myself and therefore I analyze in advance which profession suits me and why.

Task definition and formulation

The task of the project is to choose the future professional activity in accordance with the algorithm for choosing a profession and predicting a career and professional self-determination. For this I need:

  • explore your interests and inclinations;
  • identify the level of knowledge, ability, health and correlate them with the requirements of the profession;
  • study the world of professions, the needs for personnel.

Basic parameters and limitations

  1. The chosen profession must satisfy individual personal and psychophysical characteristics;
  2. Professional training should be affordable. The location will be optimal educational institution in our region.
  3. The material costs for obtaining a specialty should correspond to my financial capabilities.
  4. Demand for a profession in the labor market

Identification of traditions, history, trends

Studying the world of professions, I determined the most how much they are in demand in the labor market of our region, and also studied the traditions of my family. Choosing my future profession, I gave preference to the following sources of information:

Activity analysis

As I familiarized myself with the various professions, I developed a Reflection Framework that would help me make the right choices by steadily advancing.

Generation of ideas, options, alternatives

The sphere of my professional activity is human nature. Using Internet sites, which provide descriptions and characteristics of the professions, we will single out a number of specialties belonging to the chosen field of professional activity: a veterinarian, a veterinary paramedic, a livestock breeder, a zoo engineer, a livestock technician.

Determination of requirements for professional activities

Let's highlight the following parameters related to the sphere of professional activity "man - nature".

The work should:

  • be varied
  • mobile
  • meet the psychophysiological and social needs of a person
  • versatile

My future work should not be "sedentary" and requiring only mental work. It should be not only indoors, but also outdoors.

"My professional choice" (an exemplary creative project on professional self-determination)

So that you can deeper comprehend the theoretical material on professional self-determination and be able to practically apply the knowledge gained, check out the sample project of professional choice. It is composed of 20 sequential operations - steps. Each step contains a description of the actions to determine professional suitability and recommendations for their implementation (in italics). The profession of a computer operator was chosen as a trial one in the project.

Profession computer operator

STAGE I

Step 1: identify the problem

For a person on the verge of adulthood, issues of professional self-determination and life prospects are paramount. After all, the whole subsequent life depends on how correctly the future specialty is chosen.

Identify the problem area of your creative project.

Step 2: Understand the problem area

The problematic area of this project is the study of the algorithm for choosing a profession and the design of ways of self-improvement on the example of analyzing a specific professional activity (Scheme 1).

Highlight the sub-issues of your problem area.

Step 3: identifying a specific need

The need for everyone is the correct professional choice in accordance with their interests and capabilities.

Is this need paramount for you? Give your answer a detailed rationale.

Step 4: Defining a specific task and its formulation

The goal of the project is to analyze a specific profession, identify its main requirements for a person and identify opportunities for mastering this profession.

State the main objectives of your project.

II STAGE

Step 5: identifying the main parameters

Our task is limited to the analysis of only one area, we must check whether the parameters of the profession correspond to the personal characteristics of its applicant. This will help us learn the algorithm for analyzing the profession.

The criteria for choosing a profession should be as follows:

the chosen profession must correspond to individual personal and psychophysiological characteristics; the availability of training for the profession is necessary (the presence of an educational institution, its territorial reach); material costs for obtaining a specialty must correspond to the financial capabilities of the family; demand for the profession in the labor market.

What parameters and limitations can you highlight in your project?

Step 6: Identify Traditions, History, Trends

The correct professional choice is based on collecting information about various professions, identifying the most in demand and promising ones at the present time, clarifying the traditions of the people, family, and locality (Figure 2).

You need to identify how the requirements for training specialists in various fields of professional activity change over time. With the help of the mass media and the Internet, it is necessary to find out what new specialties have appeared in recent years, what is their specificity, in which educational institutions they are taught.

Step 7: Analyze activities

After familiarizing yourself with the various professions, it is necessary to develop a reference framework for thinking, the consistent advancement of which will help to make the right choice.

Algorithm for professional self-determination:

identification of interests and inclinations; analysis of professional activities in accordance with interests and inclinations; identification of individual personal and psychophysiological characteristics; correlation of individual characteristics with the requirements of professional activity; determination of socio-economic factors of choosing a profession: ways and conditions for obtaining vocational education, material costs of training; professional test; professional plans and perspective; program and development.

Based on this algorithm, draw up and analyze your reference framework for thinking, according to which you will make your choice of profession. It can be in the form of a diagram (Scheme 3).

Step 8: Generating ideas, options, alternatives

First, we will define the field of professional activity, which is most preferable. This can be done using the techniques

"Differential Diagnostic Questionnaire" (DDO) or "Professional Readiness Questionnaire" (OPG), which can be found on the Internet. Based on the results obtained, we choose one of five areas of professional activity (man - technology; man - nature; man - man; man - sign system; a person is an artistic image). The professional activity considered in our project lies in the sphere of "man - sign system".

Using Internet sites that provide descriptions and characteristics of the professions, we will write out a number of specialties belonging to the chosen field of professional activity: this is a web master, a computer operator, a programmer, a system administrator, a computer science teacher, a dispatcher.

Using the methods of DDO or OPG, determine your area of professional activity and read the descriptions of professions related to this area. Analyze the findings and choose a number of specialties that appeal to you the most.

Step 9: Determine professional requirements

Let's single out the following parameters related to the sphere of professional activity "person - sign system".

The work should be:

varied; have a transformative, creative character; stimulate an increase in the level of knowledge and skills; correspond to the psychophysiological and social needs of a person.

Highlight the basic requirements for your future professional career. Using the methods, identify your interests and inclinations, correlate them with the written requirements, draw conclusions.

Stage III

Step 10: Analyze and synthesize ideas

Of all the professions listed in the previous step, now you need to choose the most suitable one. To do this, you need to evaluate them in points (from 1 to 5) according to the main parameters (see step 5). It is more convenient to do this when working with a table.

We did this and came to the conclusion that the profession of a computer operator is the most acceptable for us.

Analyze the results in your table. Which specialty scored the most points? Is this the best option?

Step 11: Exploring the content of future professional activities

So, we have made the choice of the best option labor activity... To learn more about the content future profession, it is necessary to draw up her professiogram and psychogram. Such work will allow you to better determine your professional suitability for it.

Step 12: identifying individual characteristics

Reveal your individual personal and psychophysiological characteristics using the methods selected for each area of professional activity. In our case, these are methods for the professional sphere "Man - Sign System". Next, correlate the individual characteristics with the professional requirements described in step 9.

Using the tests given in the textbook and on the Internet, determine your type of temperament, character and other personal characteristics. With the help of a school psychologist and a doctor, identify the psychophysiological characteristics of your development. Do they meet the requirements outlined in step 9?

Step 13: Determining the ways of obtaining a profession and choosing a place of study

Use the Reflecting Reference Scheme to complete this step. In the center of the scheme it is necessary to place possible ways of obtaining a profession and indicate the factors, conditions that should be taken into account when solving this problem. You can discuss this with your parents, teachers, counselors.

The ways of obtaining a profession depend on the educational institution you choose. Let's say you decide to first get a secondary education in your chosen specialty in college, and then continue your studies at a university on an abbreviated basis.

Use the diagram in Figure 85 for factors and conditions to consider when choosing a training location.

What ways of getting the chosen profession do you know? Which one attracts you the most? Analyze each point of this scheme and identify several educational institutions where you can get this profession. Having chosen the place of study, consider options for your further actions in case of failure to enter the intended educational institution.

Step 14: professional tryout

At the third stage, we examined in detail all the characteristics of the chosen profession, as well as our psychological characteristics. Now, with the appropriate theoretical training, you can conduct a professional test. This will ensure that the profession is fully qualified.

Is it possible to conduct a professional test in your chosen profession? If yes, please indicate where, at what time and in what conditions the work will take place. If a professional test has already been carried out, then analyze its results. Completed by you creative projects, the models created in the circles of technical and artistic-applied creativity are a kind of professional tests. Consider their results.

Step 15: correction

After passing the professional test, we can conclude whether we should go to study in this specialty or choose another. Perhaps it is necessary to clarify the profile of training c.

If you want to change your selection, you must go back to step 5 or 7 and make the change. What conclusions have you drawn?

Step 16: Predicting Your Future Professional Career

Now that we are convinced that the chosen profession is fully suitable for us, we can make a forecast of future professional growth and career. For this, it is recommended to develop an individual program for self-improvement and development, in accordance with which professional growth will be built.

Make an individual self-improvement and development program. What success do you want and can achieve in your future profession? Reflect all your professional plans and reflections in the form of a professional growth and career forecast. There is no single path here, so you can consider various options further career.

STAGE V

Step 17: control

You need to go back to steps 5 and 7 and compare the completed project with the one that was conceived. If there are flaws, then they can always be eliminated.

Record your results.

Step 18: decoration

We draw up the finished project in the form of sequential actions - steps. They should reflect all the reflections that have arisen in the course of choosing a profession. V finished project we place diagrams and pictures that helped us make a choice.

Prepare your project in accordance with the given sample

Step 19: self-assessment

Let's return to steps 2, 4 and 7. After analyzing them, you can try to independently assess yourself (Table 1).

If you are completely satisfied with the results obtained during the course, it means that you were able to successfully develop the idea of the project and now you can bring it to life. We recommend using a rough assessment of the readiness for a professional choice according to the methodology (tab. 1)

Topic 1. Strategy for choosing a profession

Target: Analyze the three main factors of the strategy for choosing a profession, formulate the correctness of choosing a profession.

Stages of the lesson:

1. Find out the role of labor in the life of society and the individual. Game "Aliens" (Appendix 1).

2. Analysis of the situation of choice, including the choice of a profession. For example, analyze the situation of choosing a purchase. How should one behave when choosing a profession so as not to be mistaken? First, know the world of professions. Secondly, to know yourself - your interests, inclinations, opportunities, state of health. Thirdly, to know the rules of choice, to know how to "try on" the profession for yourself and how to get it. Psychologists call the rules for choosing a profession a strategy. Zone optimal choice profession - a zone of coincidence of interests, opportunities of the individual with the needs of society.

3. Analysis of the strategy of choosing a profession. The strategy for choosing a profession is as follows: analysis of three main factors: "I want", "I can", "I must". What is “want”? These are the desires, interests, inclinations of a person. Interest - focus on the subject, on its cognition ("I want to know"). Interests can be - active and passive, broad and narrow, superficial and deep. For the choice of a profession, cognitive interest is very important, a feature of which is the very process of cognizing the subject. What is "can"? these are the capabilities of a person: abilities, state of health, physical characteristics of a person, level of education. The correspondence of a person's capabilities to his profession makes him competitive. What is "necessary"? This is the need of society for specialists, awareness of the social necessity and importance of the profession, which educational institution should be graduated. The need of society is manifested in the demand for personnel. When considering a future work life, it is important to take into account the real life situation, the possibility of further employment, think over a backup option.

4. Training - the game "Optimists and skeptics". Students are divided into two groups: optimists and skeptics. (Optimism is a worldview, imbued with cheerfulness, faith in the future, in success, a tendency to see the good, bright sides in everything. Pessimism is the opposite of optimism, a worldview, imbued with despondency, disbelief in a better future; a tendency to see only the bad in everything. Skepticism is critical, distrustful attitude to something, doubt about the correctness of something). One profession is taken, for example, a geologist. Optimists call all the good things about this profession (change of impressions, usefulness, high salary etc.). Skeptics - everything is bad (constant business trips, separation from family, etc.). It often turns out that is good for one person, bad for another. The game shows how much the choice of a profession depends on the personality of a person, his interests, inclinations, and often opportunities. At the same time, the students analyze the current life situation: the possibility of employment, whether there are funds for training this profession, how financially this profession provides.

5. Conclusion: making the right choice means choosing a job that, firstly, is accessible and feasible for you, and secondly, people and society need it, and can bring you satisfaction and joy. Briefly: “I want”, “I can”, “I need”. As the fabulist IA Krylov wrote, "Take on what you are akin to, if you want the end to be successful in business." That is, you need to want what you can, and to be able is important what is useful for people and necessary for you.

Topic 2. The "want" factor in choosing a profession

Target: determination or clarification of students' interests in various groups of professions, familiarization with the concepts of “motives of choice” and “personal meaning and purpose”, responsibility for their professional choice.

Stages of the lesson:

1. Conduct an oral survey of students on questions that will allow you to start analyzing the first factor in choosing a professional career: Have you tried to assess your interests and inclinations? Do you have any idea what you want to do every working day? What professions do you like?

2. Complete the task in writing: compile a list of professions known to you, dividing them into four categories (the most prestigious, the most paid, the most humane and the least prestigious), and fill in the table (Appendix 2). What were you guided by when distributing professions according to these or those graphs?

3. To form the concepts of “motives of choice”, “personal meaning and purpose”. Each person is characterized by the presence of a motivational sphere that determines his behavior throughout his life. The essence of a person is expressed by the proverb: "Tell me what you want, and I will tell you who you are." The state of need of a person (or living being) for certain conditions, which they lack for normal existence or development, is characterized by a need. All living beings have needs, and this, in particular, Live nature differs from inanimate. The need activates the body, gives rise to its behavior aimed at finding what is required. Plants have the least needs. Most of all the needs of a person who, in addition to organic needs, also has material, spiritual and social needs. Unlike needs, only a person has motives. A motive is an object that, in response to a need, i.e. acting as a means of its satisfaction, organizes and directs behavior (motive - translated from Latin - "set in motion, push"). Motive is an incentive to activity associated with satisfying a need. Every human action is performed for something (purpose) and for some reason (motive). Most of our motives are expressed in the form of an answer to the question: why am I acting in a certain way. The purpose of life is a person's awareness of the final results of his life. Goals can be near and far. The meaning of life is the awareness of one's life not as a series of random, scattered events, but as an integral process that has a certain direction, continuity and meaning; awareness of what a person lives for.

4. Analyze your motives for professional choice using the classification scheme (Appendix 3). The choice of a profession will be conscious only if it is deeply motivated: a person correctly evaluates his inclinations and capabilities and knows the content of the activity that he has to carry out.

5. To form the concepts of "interests" and "inclinations". Sometimes we ask, "An interesting book?" or "An interesting movie?" However, these questions are meaningless, since interest is not a property of a thing (book, film, etc.), but a property of a person. One person may find some book interesting, another so-so, and a third even uninteresting. There are no uninteresting subjects, but there are people uninterested in them. Needs are at the core of interests. We are interested in those objects and phenomena that are able to satisfy this or that need. These objects and phenomena attract attention, we think about them, strive for them. Interest often makes us act in a certain direction, acts as a motive for activity. Moreover, the same activity for different people can be motivated by different interests and can satisfy different needs. It is sometimes mistakenly believed that interests and inclinations are one and the same. Interests are manifested in the desire for knowledge of the object, a thorough study of it in all details. Inclination - the desire to perform the relevant activity (selectively positive attitude towards the activity). Interests can be expressed by the formula "I want to know", and the inclination - "I want to do."

6. Identification of sustainable interests (Appendix 4). In order to choose a profession based on interests, you need to evaluate a number of statements in the map of interests about different types classes.

7. Reflexive analysis of the lesson. Continue sentences or answer questions:

What did I get from this lesson?

Today in class I learned ...

Topic 3. The "can" factor in choosing a profession

Target: familiarization with the concepts of "ability" and "professional suitability", diagnostics of professional readiness.

Stages of the lesson:

1. Conduct a conversation with students on questions that will allow an analysis of the second factor in choosing a profession: Do you know about your abilities and skills? Have you tried to "try" them on to the chosen profession? Do you know what requirements the chosen profession may present to you?

2. To form the concept of "ability". Interests and inclinations for certain activities usually develop with the development of abilities for it. For example, a student's interest and penchant for mathematics forces him to intensively study this subject, which in turn develops mathematical abilities. Developing mathematical abilities provide certain achievements, advances in the field of mathematics, which give the student a joyful sense of satisfaction. This feeling causes an even deeper interest in the subject, a tendency to study it even more. Abilities - individual psychological characteristics of a person that help him achieve success in any activity. Abilities can be general (intelligence, efficiency, purposefulness, etc.) and special (pedagogical, sports, technical, mathematical, artistic, organizational, etc.). For success in activity, in addition to having special abilities, interests and inclinations, a number of character traits are required, first of all, hard work, organization, concentration, perseverance. All these qualities can be determined using special psychological tests. Abilities, like other personality traits, are not only manifested in activity, but also formed in it. Systematic exercises and hard training will help in the formation of underdeveloped abilities.

3. Health and career choice. Abilities, interests, inclinations, about the need to take into account which we spoke, represent the psychological "I" of the individual. But when choosing a profession, one must also take into account the physical characteristics and the state of human health. Therefore, let's look at ourselves from the point of view of medicine and correlate its requirements with the future profession. After analyzing the table of restrictions on professional suitability, find out if there are any medical contraindications for you (Appendix 5).

4. Practical work. General concept health includes, in addition to physical health, mental, psychological and social well-being. Let's try to understand the state of our health, to identify the average norm of psychophysical well-being (Appendix 6).

5. Formation of the concept of "professional suitability". Students' answers to the question: Is a pencil suitable for writing? Oddly enough, the question is posed incorrectly. Why? Because it doesn't say what to write on ?: on a rock? On the glass? On metal? On the wall of the house? On the banner for a future slogan? A pencil is good for writing on paper. It is already inconvenient to write on a tree, but it is convenient to strike marks for a saw. In order to write on glass, an ordinary pencil is not at all suitable. But you need to write: it is very important for a laboratory assistant, a nurse to make inscriptions, marks on glassware. Here you need a special pencil made, for example, from a mixture of fat, wax, paint. Perhaps only pencils have such a strange property that they have no suitability at all, but only suitability of the "here and now" type? no, it’s not a pencil, but the very concept of fitness. Many features can be said to be inherent in a certain object or person (or absent). For example, if the same pencil is round, then it will remain with this feature, whether we write on paper, on glass or on wood. If faceted - the same thing. Also with a person. If he has blue eyes, then he "carries this color with him." This is not the case with the fitness sign. Of course, a person is a bearer of stable personal qualities, characteristics, including internal regulators of activity - beliefs, knowledge, interests, abilities, character. These internal regulators are found in statements, deeds, actions. Communicating with a person, you can more or less accurately determine his characteristics, personal qualities. But with signs of suitability for the activity. The profession is different. There is no professional suitability at all, as a sign that a person carries with him. This feature is not inherent in a person, but in a difficult situation “person-profession”. In other words, every time you need to figure out what kind of person we are talking about and what kind of specific profession. Thus, professional suitability is the mutual correspondence of a person and a business. Fitness for a profession is characterized by such indicators as: 1) the success of mastering a profession and 2) a person's satisfaction with their work.

6. Testing. It should be noted that professional suitability is a formable quality, and in many respects is in the hands of a person. Now we can determine professional readiness (Appendix 7).

Topic 4. Requirements for a profession to a person

Target: familiarizing students with the requirements that apply to a person various groups professions.

Stages of the lesson:

1. Analysis of the requirements for the psychological qualities of a person, which are presented by the chosen profession. Testing according to the organized crime group questionnaire revealed preferences for the type of profession (according to E.A. Klimov). A description of the requirements that professional activity makes to the human psyche are contained in the psychogram of the profession. Analysis of psychograms of each type of profession makes it possible to assess their own personal qualities and correlate them with the requirements of the profession (Appendix 8).

2. Designing activities for the diagnosis and correction of their own personal qualities necessary for the future profession. If, as a result of the analysis, it turned out that you do not sufficiently possess certain psychological qualities necessary to achieve a high level of the chosen professional activity, psychologists may offer you special exercises for correction. the right qualities... Your task is to objectively assess your abilities and capabilities and outline a plan for their correction.

Topic 5. The "must" factor in choosing a profession

Target: analyze society's need for specialists, as well as the opportunities provided by society in employment.

Stages of the lesson:

1. Conduct a conversation with students on issues that will allow an analysis of the second factor in choosing a profession: Are specialists in your chosen profession required in the present or in the near future in our region? Do you imagine how and where you can study your chosen specialty? How realistic is it to find the job you want in your chosen profession?

2. Analysis of the data bank of labor vacancies of the city, region. Meeting with a representative of the city employment center.

3. Designing a personal strategy for choosing a profession.

Topic 6. Personal professional plan

Target: familiarize students with possible ways obtaining professional education, to design an individual plan of professional self-determination.

Stages of the lesson:

1. Chatting with students about: Have you thought about who you want to become? Have you talked to anyone about this? How did you find out about your chosen profession? What do you know about her? Do you know where you can master this profession? How do you prepare for your career choice? Do you have a fallback career option in case insurmountable obstacles arise in acquiring the main profession?

2. Drawing up a personal professional plan. Many young people, leaving school, try to find their life path, however, not everyone succeeds in achieving the desired success. One of the reasons is that personal professional and life plans are not always well thought out, drawn up without taking into account their abilities and possible obstacles. The personal professional plan is the main navigator's map, the most important regulator of the professional path. Analysis of the situation of choosing a profession (“I can”, “I want”, “I must”) allowed us to correlate our own capabilities with the requirements of the chosen profession. Now you can design your own situation of choosing a profession, draw up a personal professional plan. As you map out an action plan to implement this plan, keep in mind that by the end of the school year, you will have to choose a training profile that suits your plan. An approximate scheme for drawing up a personal professional plan was developed by psychologists (Appendix 9).

3. Defense of a project for professional self-determination. The defense of the project includes justification (relevance, need, problem, objectives, hypothesis), the results of the study, the results and conclusions achieved, the ways of professional self-determination.
